Supreme Court Rules Against Voter Fraud

The good guys win!

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has ruled that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights. The decision validates Republican-inspired voter ID laws.

The court vote 6-3 to uphold Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement. Democrats and civil rights groups say the law would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots.

Now what are the Democrats going to do?

Read: “illegal, duplicate and fraudulent”.

We had to show ID here in PA last week at the polls. I ain’t heard anyone screeching. Oh, except in Philly. They are complaining because anyone would think they needed monitored, after all their voter shenanigans.

You have to show ID to vote in Louisiana. It’s just common sense.

I don’t know about democrats, but illegals will do what they and the “under age” have always done—fake id’s.

A fake ID will get you one vote. Massive voter fraud would require you to carry around a lot of fake IDs and require you to keep them straight at each polling place. Requires large brass balls!

How many individuals have been convicted of voter fraud by the Bush DOJ, by the states?
How big is this problem?

Not enough. But, then, if you only give lip service to “one man, one vote” it probably wouldn’t bother you!

Without requiring an ID at the time of voting how are you going to even know for sure that voter fraud happened?

Now that you have to prove you are a eligible voter we will get a far more accurate accounting of just that. Good job, woofie.

I know Washington State had voter fraud and corruption enough to put an illegal (D) governor in office. Hopefully, the coming election will see a legitimate governor take office.  As far as am concerned, showing an I.D. makes perfect and common sense.

And another thing. Exactly who does not have some form of ID?

What about absentee only states? In Washington state majority of the counties are absentee only and the state was trying for state wide absentee. I have been getting my ballot mailed to me for years without further proof of verification. While away at school, I verbally instructed my family how to cast my vote and they signed and sent it in.
This absentee only voting is extremely convenient, but I don’t see it being fraud proof by any means.

Whistler:

Now what are the democrats going to do?

Simple.  They are going to try to put a democrat in the White House; one who can, over the next 4 to 8 years, with a liberal majority in the senate, reverse the current make-up of the Supreme Court.

Today’s decision was 6 to 3. If Bush had not been president, then you could subtract Roberts and Alito from the vote and put two liberals in their place, resulting in a 5 to 4 vote against Indiana’s voter ID law.

But don’t let that stop you, Whistler. Keep telling us that a vote for John McCain will be a disaster.

Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other vews.

Hmm, one of the most liberal justices, John Paul Stevens, joined in the with the majority while George HW Bush’s pick David Souter voted for vote fraud.

I’d feel better about it if McCain would have been willing to fight for conservative justices rather than worrying about what Robert Byrd, (Klan WV) thought.

Just voted in a city election where everyone voted absentee.

City did not want to spend money opening the polls.

I.D. basically comes down to the ballot being mailed to your house and your signature on the returned envelope.

No ID no vote. Simple as that.

Here! Here! If it was that important to you to vote, don’t you think you’d find a way to fulfill the requirements by obtaining an ID?
And if, for some reason, you missed a vote because you didn’t have the proper ID, you’ve got what? Two to four years to get one?

If a person is so feeble minded or incompetent that they can’t even get an ID for themselves in two to four years, you know what we call them?

Democrats.

I think they should have opened the polls, but the city acted legally.
The vote was on moving the day of city elections.
Besides ID, you always have your signature scrutinized when you vote here.

Also my vote was with the clear winner, 3000 to 400.

The outside of the envelope had to be signed, inside was a closed non- identifying envelop to keep the vote secret.
I dropped mine in the ballot box which is counted by the County Board
of Elections, though it could be mailed to them.
Could some screwing around have happened , sure.
There are some safeguards when securing, opening and counting ballots.

You guys are honestly telling us that a mail in election is secure? You are telling us it is simply to difficult to go to a polling site and prove who you are and cast a ballot. Absentee ballots are for voters who will be “absent” from their voting district at the time of the vote. Mailing them blind to every address in a region is about the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time. Ranks right up there with Jeremiah Wroght’s claim of being ashamed he is black.

You guys are joking, right? Please tell me there are not Americans this blind to how stupid this is.

The integrity of the electoral process must be protected.  Otherwise, the people will not have confidence in the results and then the seeds of revolution will begin to germinate.
We went through this once back in 1776.  We must guard against any invasion, both foreign or domestic.

Indiana has had no in person voter fraud
Indiana has had absentee ballot fraud.
Voter ID does not address absentee ballot fraud.

Scalia in another case

It is for state legislatures to weigh the costs and benefits of possible changes to their election codes, and their judgment must prevail unless it imposes a severe and unjustified overall burden upon the right to vote, or is intended to disadvantage a particular class

Get out of those wheel chairs and get your poor , handicapped , blind , broken asses to a DMV office. Transportation will not be provided.
Though you have been voting at your polling place since Truman, to protect Indiana from a felony that has never been seen in the state   you no longer exist.

Can you register in Indiana without a picture?
Going to vote in person is covered by voter ID, the others are unknown to me.

I don’t really understand the process enough to make recommendations.  I’m sure there are some things that could be done.

On the other hand skippy voting for his grandmother who’s in the home probably is going to be hard to stop.

Often time, identity can be established for a resident with things as mundane as utility bills. (Oh, look! There’s my name on the bill!) Whereas multiple ballots sent to office buildings or vacant lots might raise a bit of suspicion.

In California, the DMV could issue photo ID to non-drivers. (I’m not sure what proof they required.)

I don’t think it’s rocket surgery to obtain a picture ID.
