Supreme Court Justice Learned About Life Watching “Days”
4:28pm
For years before his 1991 retirement, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall slipped away from deliberations each day to watch Days of Our Lives. The show wasn’t just a guilty pleasure; it helped shape the justice’s understanding of the world. As Marshall once told Justice William Brennan, soaps teach viewers valuable lessons about life.
There’s certainly a lot to admire about Thurgood Marshall’s career (crusade) fighting the Democrat racists before he joined the Supreme Court. But with all due respect to my wife, Days of Our Lives is NOT real life.
The court Marshall sat on was one of the worst for coming up with all kinds of new rights. And now perhaps we know a little more why. One of the guys that came up with Roe V Wade was probably thinking that Maggie was a little bit loose but didn’t deserve to be saddled with a baby next season…or something.
