Statewide Fighting Sioux Petition Drive Events: Weekend of Jan 27-29

The Fighting Sioux Petition Drive will have a number of signing events statewide this weekend to provide the opportunity for North Dakota citizens to exercise their 1st Amendment right of petition.

Petition Circulators Needed! MEET near the UND Bookstore at 5:00pm each night. Bring flashlights, gelpens, and enthusiasm. Clipboards and petitions provided. Charles is the site organizer, and can be reached at 701-630-9489

If you just want to sign, come over to the UND Bookstore parking lot on either night.

DAKOTA WIZARDS VS. IOWA, SAT JAN 28 (7:00 start) – BISMARCK CIVIC CENTER (5th St and Bowen Entrance)

The Wizards are offering free tickets to this game! Stop out and sign the petitions on your way in!

HAIRBALL LIVE, SAT JAN 28 (8:00 start) – ND STATE FAIR CENTER (2005 Burdick Expy E

Two petitions are being circulated. One is a “Repeal the Repeal” of the law protecting the Fighting Sioux name and likeness, and an initiated measure to place the Fighting Sioux name in the Constitution. The people of North Dakota want to be heard on this issue, to include those Dakota Sioux at Standing Rock who have been denied a vote by their Tribal Council. Organizers intend to give all people in North Dakota that opportunity, both by signing the official petitions to get these issues on the ballot, and ultimately allowing them to cast their vote at the ballot box.

Keep an eye out for future events around the state. Information will be posted right here on SAB. Feel free to contact Charles at 701-630-9489 if you want to organize one of your own as well .

You also don’t need a big event to get signatures. Many are being successful carrying them around to get signatures from friends and neighbors, or getting their family to sign. Petitions don’t need to be filled up to submit them. All you need to get your own petition drive event (big or small) going is some petitions. Get them here, and make sure you thoroughly ready the instructions before getting signatures.

Special Note to Circulators: Please send in what you have collected (one signature or 10,000) to Reed (once you have notarized them) on Monday, Jan 30 so he gets them around Jan 31st. We want to get a hard count of where we are at to date.
