State Rep. Says Obamacare Exchanges Are “Dead” In North Dakota
6:31pm
State Rep. George Keiser was on the Scott Hennen Show today talking about the health insurance exchange issue after a meeting of the Health Care Reform Comittee (which he chairs) yesterday. I posted video from that meeting which showed Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm, as well as a representative of Governor Jack Dalrymple’s office, expressing strong opposition to the state implementing the exchanges.
Prior to the committee meeting Rep. Jim Kasper (who also serves on that committee) flipped his position from supporting the exchanges to opposing them.
Hennen asks Keiser if he feels like he’s all by himself as the lone Republican who has endosred state implementation of the exchanges publicly. Keiser said he does and, after continuing to defend the exchanges, admits that they’re a dead issue in the state.
This is very positive news. With Keiser on an island among Republicans in supporting the exchanges, and with Governor Dalrymple holding strong for the time being, North Dakota will almost assuredly dodge the exchanges bullet.
