Staging The News?
I wonder about the fairness of media tactics like this. Is it really going to result in a fair representation of the treatment of Muslims?
If you head into an event with the objective of baiting obnoxious or crude behavior out of people why should anyone be surprised when that is what you get?
I guess it would depend on the tactics employed by NBC, but what I can imagine happening is that NBC will air some foolishness from maybe half a dozen drunken idiots (there are some in every crowd) and use that to paint the entire "NASCAR culture" as being bigoted. There are, on average, 125,000 people at a NASCAR race. Is it fair paint all those people as bigoted based on the bad behavior of a few? Will NBC air the show if the footage they get is of a bunch of race fans being courteous to the Muslims? Will NBC show any instances of race fans being courteous if they do air the show?
Call me crazy, but I wouldn't count on it. The objective of the show is to show discrimination. That's what they want, and if they bait hard enough I suspect they'll get it.
