Sports Diversity

While we’re on the subject of sports and cultural diversity, why do people always complain about the lack of diversity in the NHL (which is dominated by whites) while we never hear a peep about the lack of diversity in other professional sports like, say, the NBA?

Because just like gay marriage, it’s easier to point your finger and criticize the things you don’t do (or aren’t a fan of in this case) than it is to deal with the issues in the things that you personally do (or are a fan of)

Typical human nature.

A more intriguing discussion would be why is OK to demand diversity in the coaching or ownership ranks of the NFL or NBA with the reason being that most of the players are black.  To the point where NFL teams are required to interview a black candidate or face league sanctions.

But then when discussing diversity outside of sports (take University admissions), we must include more minorities to better represent the make-up of the American populace.

Two very contradictory reasonings.

jr, the twisted logic they use on coach diversity is that coachs are likely to come from retired players so if most of the players are black then proportionally most of the coachs should be black.  Again no consideration given to expertise.

The Supreme Court is a bunch of black robed tyrants
