Spin: Obama Adviser Questioning The Timing Of Revelations About Illegal Immigrant Aunt
Not to mention her illegally accepted contributions to Obama’s campaign.
(CNN) — Barack Obama’s chief strategist said Saturday that he thought the last-minute appearance of stories like this weekend’s news that the Illinois senator’s aunt may be living in the country illegally would make people “suspicious.”
[...]
On the campaign trail in Nevada, Axelrod said the timing of the report might raise a few eyebrows. “The campaign issued a statement on that,” he said. “And I don’t have anything more to add to it, other than I think people are suspicious about stories that surface in the last 72 hours of a national campaign… I think that they’re going to take that, they’re going to put it in that context.”
Frankly, I’m more than a little suspicious about why it took until the bitter end of the campaign for this to come out. Within days of Palin being added to McCain’s ticket the media had an army of journalists in Alaska going through trash and bringing us important stories. Like Bristol Palin’s pregnancy and her boyfriend’s fishing violations.
But Obama’s been on the campaign trail for two years, and news about his destitute Aunt living in run-down public housing and making illegal contributions to his campaign doesn’t break until now?
It’s an indictment of the biased media, if you ask me.
