South Carolina GOP Calls On Obama To Repudiate Comments From His Supporters Cheering Hurricane

Yesterday Rep. Jack Spratt (D - SC) and former DNC Chairman Don Fowler managed to neutralize hurricane Gustav before Obama could exploit it for political purposes.  Here’s the video again if you missed it:

Today the South Carolina GOP (via press release) is calling on Obama to repudiate these comments:

BREAKING: Statement from South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson

“The outrageous behavior of two of the Obama campaign’s highest profile supporters in the south is despicable, a cynical politization of life and death. I call on Barack Obama to immediately denounce Fowler and Spratt and demand sincere apologies from these members of the Democratic leadership.”

I don’t know why Obama, specifically, needs to apologize for and repudiate these comments.  After all, he didn’t make them.  And Spratt/Fowler don’t work for his campaign.  But even so, someone from the Democrats should apologize to the public for this.  I mean, rooting for a hurricane?  Rooting for death and destruction for political gain?  That’s pretty atrocious.

And it not only speaks to Democrat callousness with hurricane Gustav, but it casts a pall on all the political haymaking Democrats did with hurricane Katrina.  The mask has been pulled from Democrat empathy and exposed cruel, exploitative and cynical politics.

Wow! That is cold blooded. This shows how desperate the Dems are. Have we heard anything about this on the MSM front.  I doubt we will.

I was just listening to Bush’s press conference stating he won’t be at the RNC Convention.  I can see the Dem’s explaining that McCain didn’t want him there so he is using Gustav as an excuse.  No matter what he does we’ll hear the “buzzy spin” on things.  (that means we’ll hear it explained by our own “Buzzy” at a post near you)

Rob,

I’ve got to commend you for not calling for Obama to apologize or whatever.

Obama would be a terrible president but you’re right that he doesn’t owe anyone an apology for someone else’s comments.

Yeah, what type of right-wing religeous nut would do that?

Instead of finding things to attack each other over, why don’t we find areas where we can agree, and find compromise long enough to take a step back and enjoy the recognition of our similarities?

Then, we can take steps forward in a constructive way, together, to tackle the issues where we really do disagree.

Maybe it’s “god’s decision (and it’s always god’s decision) that hurricane of biblical proportions to be a good a proper meteorological condition for that evening, some will see it and say that it is good”.

That is what you are doing.

And Barri shouldn’t apologize. He does not give a shit about the people of New Orleans, or anywhere else, beyond getting their votes and money.

And who is that? Some super secret agent of Karl Rove? How long has that guy been a major Republican Party elected member and executive? Hello? McFly? Anyone home?

2Hotel is too stupid to recognize that the Dem who was recorded was mocking the Republicans who prayed for rain and assumed God would be on their side if he were to grant their prayers for torrential, flooding rain.

Only a true idiot like 2Hotel and Rob, could not figure that out.

Your youtube video proves all that? Where?

So I say that Obama shouldn’t be held responsible for someone else’s comments, and Hannitized blasts me with…comments someone else made.

This “Hannitized” personality has to be made up, right?  I mean, you’ve got to really be a Republican who is just puting us all on with a funny parody.

The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

This “Hannitized” personality has to be made up, right?

In the past, I speculated that because of all the contradictory BS it posted, that “Hannitized” might be a franchise, where, for a small fee, any idiot could post any nonsense at all and it wouldn’t just seem like a multiple personality, it would be a multitude of personalities!

Hannitized, it gives me no pleasure to say it but you, sir, are a LIAR.

Spratt and Fowler deserve to be caught.  They are from my state and I know them well.

Spratt’s ancestors stole their land from the Catawba Indians.
He comes from a long line of shysters.

Heard on a newscast this morning that Fowler apologized(?) for his part in this.

“If I have offended anyone… tada..tada…”

You have not offered a valid apology without first recognizing your own stupidity.

Kevin.  I lived in Fort Mill.  Corruption in that County is rampant.  They lie like communists.
MSNBC commentator last night:  “Katrina was a category 3.”  He either lied, was trying to mislead or is ignortant.  Reference:  AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Carrie McCabe:

it is unlikely to reach Category 5 strength as Hurricane Katrina had prior to landfall.

What these people won’t do for an emotional appeal is revealing.
