Some Blog News

The time has come for me to share some news about this blog that has been brewing for some time now.  I’ve mentioned in the past that I’ve been training for a new job, and posting here by me has slowed up significantly.  The truth is that I’m making a big move in my life, and I’ve been busy settling up loose ends and figuring out what to do with this blog, which I won’t be able to keep up any more.

As many of you know, I was born in Alaska.  I moved to North Dakota when I was very young, but have always pined for the land of my birth.  Well an opportunity has come up that will allow me to move back home.  I’m taking a job as a hunting guide based out of Fairbanks.  It’ll be a year-round gig, and it will leave next to zero time for blogging.

But I didn’t want Say Anything to die, so I’ve sold it to my good friend and long-time contributor Whistler.  He’ll be taking over editorial control and all of the front-page posting priveleges.

I’ll be posting for the rest of today, and may even contribute sporadically in the future, but for the most part this is a good bye.

So long, and thanks for all the good times.

Is it a coincidence that you post this on April 1st?

Wow, no more Rob! Sad to see you leave but you have to grab opportunities when they present themselves. I have thoroughly enjoyed your site, it’s one of the best. Best of luck to you and your family.

Tom on April 1, 2007 at 11:23 am

NO WAY! Are you kidding?

Zsa Zsa on April 1, 2007 at 11:24 am

Rob, That is not funny!

Zsa Zsa on April 1, 2007 at 11:26 am

Bah ... It’s gotta be April 1st

We spent 45 years defeating the Marxists in the old Soviet Union.  Now, 18 years later we are electing a Marxist to lead our country .... nice!!!

I like your blog very much and have respected your wisdom, fairness and decency; but I guess I can take some very small solace in moving from an atheist to an agnostic, is that progress? Anyway The Whistler seems great and I suspect this blog will continue to grow.

I hope it’s an April 1st thing, but if it’s not, I’m not worried. Rob doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who can just walk away from blogging. He’ll be back. grin

This one was too transparent.  Yep.  April 1.

Yeah because unless they don’t have the internet in Alaska, I am thinking you can blog from there just as well as in ND unless he is moving into a igloo. smile

Also, he generally writes long(ish) blogs, why would he write such a short one if he thought it was his last?

The Whistler has no money to buy a blog since his purchases of Streisand albums leaves him chronically broke...gotta be a prank.

"There are different kinds of truths for different kinds of people. There are truths appropriate for children; truths that are appropriate for students; truths that are appropriate for educated adults; and truths that are appropriate for highly educated adults, and the notion that there should be one set of truths available to everyone is a modern democratic fallacy. It doesn’t work.”

Rob almost had me going. Good April fools joke. I would have been very disappointed since I’ve been reading this blog daily for the past 3 years.

Mike, it was a tough deal, but Whistler was able to sell off part of his Streisand collection in order to pony up the $450,000+ this blog is worth.

My blog is worth $458,406.48.
How much is your blog worth?

Boy is this great news.  Rob’s ok but I really only read this blog for the Whistlers posts.

Rob: Wait just a dang minute pardner! I believed you and wanted to wish you every success; but even I don’t believe there are enough morons out there to buy that many Streisand Albums! See, you went to far with this April Fools Joke, the Streisand thing betrayed you!

Posting a blog like this is certainly a good way to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Rob: I’m glad this was all an April Fool’s Joke.  SA is one of the few blogs I consider worthwhile on a consistent basis.  Thanks for everything.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.
