Solyndra Crony Gets VIP Treatment At Dem Convention, Runs From News Cameras
9:53pm
You can’t make this stuff up. Watch until about 1:45 to see Spinner fleeing the cameras.
The Obama campaign rolled out the red carpet this week for a former top Energy Department official who was at the center of the ill-fated government loan to Solyndra, a California solar panel firm that wound up in bankruptcy.
Steven J. Spinner joined other top fundraisers for a VIP tour of the Democratic National Convention floor in Charlotte Monday evening, posing and waving for a photographer while standing behind the podium. When he saw ABC News cameras, however, he ran for the exit.
Of course this guy would get the VIP treatment from the Democrats. It’s like that scene from Goodfellas when Henry Hill, as a kid, goes to court for the first time. He’s approached by Jimmy Conway, Robert DeNiro’s character, and told what a good job he did. “Never rat on your friends, and always keep your mouth shut.”
Spinner did his job. He raised his money for Obama. He took his cushy political appointment. He helped funnel the money to the right people and, when they got caught, he didn’t flip.
This isn’t quite as bad as the anti “war on women” Democrats honoring a booze-addled misogynist on the first day of their convention, but it’s close.
