So Much For That Spirit Of Cooperation

Here’s a press released issued by the Democrats last week quoting Harry Reid as saying that the debate over Iraq shouldn’t have any “preconditions” because it is an issue worthy of bi-partisan “negotiations.” He even says that the Democrats are open to a meeting with the President and that both groups should “work together” to find a solution for Iraq.

WASHINGTON, April 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/—Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid today issued the following statement, renewing their call for the President to work with Congress to ensure our troops receive the support they need, including a strategy for success:

“The American people want the President and the Congress to work together to bring a responsible end to the war in Iraq. Congressional Democrats are willing to meet with the President at any time, but we believe that any discussion of an issue as critical as Iraq must be accomplished by conducting serious negotiations without any preconditions. . . .

We renew our request to work with him to produce a bipartisan bill that provides our troops and our veterans with every penny they need, but in turn, demands accountability.”

Well so much for all that “we want to work with the President” rhetoric.

Brief transcript:

Reporter: ‘So are you going to go to the White House with some kind of proposal for the President, some kind of offer?’

Reid: ‘The offer is that the President sign our bill’

“Sing our bill” isn’t very cooperative, nor is it much of a negotiation.

If the Democrats don’t want to negotiate on Iraq with the President then fine.  That’s what they should do.  But they shouldn’t go around telling Americans that they want to meet with the President and “work” or “negotiate” with him only to turn around and walk into their meeting with him with a preset position of immovability.  A) Doing that means they’re lying to the people about their intent on Iraq and B) without compromise they troops aren’t going to get “every penny they need” to keep operations going in Iraq.

If the Democrats keep being a bunch of stubborn rock heads and refuse to pass funding for Iraq our troops are going to start doing without the equipment, training and maintenance they need.

And I don’t think anyone wants to be stabbing the troops in the back like that.  At least, the Dems claim not to want that, but you couldn’t really tell by their actions.

Harry Reid is one of the worst politicians out there. AND if you think about it? There are an awful lot of horrific politicians out there! Especially in Congress.

Harry Reid is a decent politician in that he’s pretty good at getting himself and his colleagues re-elected.

What he’s horrible at is being a leader for this country.

"What he’s horrible at is being a leader for this country.”

I can not imagine Harry Reid commanding any respect. Leadership entails a lot of different personal characteristics, to me, he has none.

Oscar Mayer could not make a bigger weenie.

Am I mistaken, or would a good start for Nancy and Harry be getting ONE version of their bill passed so the President COULD sign it ?  I mean, seriously, just get it over with so Bush can veto that pork laiden bunch of bullshit.

Sherard on April 16, 2007 at 01:26 pm

He $ocks Oscar Mayer weenies! ( Yikes!) I am getting close BUT not quite… Sorry!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 01:28 pm

You can go ahead and say Harry Reid Sucks.
That will not even be a surprise to the democrats.
He just has some seniority, and that is the be all to professional politicians in Washington.
If they put in their time, get re-elected, they all want to get up before TV cameras and spew without fear of their own party dismissing them.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 01:37 pm

Rob...I think EB baited me to say that??? It is his fault!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 01:39 pm

He does spew!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 01:41 pm

What does it say about a man… much less a man who purports to be a leader, that his one moment of honesty isn’t a matter of deliberate principle but an arrogant, misspoken slip of the tongue?

More telling is the fact that Democrats are apparently too stupid, or too partisan and unprincipled themselves, to be embarrassed at having Reid as their Senate Leader.

As bad as harry Reid is. He Might not be as bad as Robert Byrd. Maybe...AND Robert Byrd is third in line foe the Presidency. Yikes!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 01:48 pm

Sherard,
Both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have their little political peckers in hand, trying to pee all over George Bush.
They will keep playing this game, as long as they think they have the political upper hand. This kind of day-to -day grandstanding will continue as long as they think they are winning.
Long term they will fail, once people realize they are nothing more than George McGovernites of the sixties.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 01:49 pm

ZZ,
I get the idea that Robert Byrd is the number One turd on your shit list.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 01:59 pm

As bad as he is? Nancy Pelosi is worse!

I’d say they’re about on par.  Nancy just manages to add a high-octave shrieky quality to her voice that Reid isn’t capable of.

ZZ,
Nancy Peelosi is probably worse. She is a dip shit without enough smarts to dip shit.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 02:07 pm

There are so many weirdo Democrats. It’s hard to define which one is the worst? Let’s see, we have John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Sheila Jackson Lee, ... The list goes on!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 02:11 pm

EB...Don’t hold back your real feelings!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 02:13 pm

My favorite was always Cynthia Mckiney.

Now there was a person dumber than a wet clod of dirty dirt. Too bad they did not re-elect her in Georgia.
Based on public proclamations from the present crew of democrats, it’s hard to pick a clear dumb front-runner out of the present crop of sprouting socialists.
The money has to be on the most public, most-outspoken, and the the most dumbest of the crew.
At this point, money goes on Reid and Peelosi, because they get most of the face time on the MSM.

jocelyn Elders will always be my favorite. Every time she would say something it made the Republicans look good!

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 02:32 pm

ZZ,

“we have John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, Joe Biden, Sheila Jackson Lee,”

You have put up a good list, they all will probably go into the “democrat Hall of Fame.”

Just think, these nut cases will be on the same par with John Kennedy, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson, Zell Miller, Joe Lieberman, etc..

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 02:40 pm

"Jocelyn Elders”
???

The Surgeon General of the United States of America under Bill Clinton. A medical doctor, she was, I suppose.

It would have been nice if she had been proficient in English and knew a little medicine, other than to explain to kids how to whack off.

Would not have had that person check my hemorrhoids if they had been dragging on the ground.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 02:54 pm

That is a scarey thought! We could always start the DemocratHall of Shame? Let’s see? Janet Reno, Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy for sure!…

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 02:56 pm

EB...I really miss her. Every time I heard her talk I couldn’t believe my ears.

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 03:00 pm

By default, the “Democrat Hall of Fame” is the “Hall of Shame” for the the United States Of America.

You can not think about or say these people’s name without a death or class “A” felony coming to mind.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 03:02 pm

"Jocelyn Elders”

She was funny and entertaining, at times, just like the Clinton’s.

Could you imagine her looking up your body orifices to diagnose a medical problem.

Turn your head, say, AHHHHH.  and cough.

Eneils Bailey on April 16, 2007 at 03:09 pm

William Jefferson, Barney Frank, Hillary Clinton, Robert Byrd. Oh did I already say those two?

Zsa Zsa on April 16, 2007 at 03:09 pm

I think it would suffice to say, that when speaking of rogues, check in at Hillary!’s Senate office.
Pick up a map, follow the money trail and the dead bodies and you will be in demoland.
Got to go now, a town meeting at 7pm. Check you later.
