So Much For Obama’s Tax Relief: Senate To Scrap $400 Tax Credit

Remember: Every promise Obama makes has an expiration date.

WAHINGTON (AP) The Senate’s top Democratic on budget issues is scrapping Barack Obama’s signature tax $400 tax credit for most workers as he seeks to cut the deficit to sustainable levels. . . .

But to do so, the North Dakota Democrat assumes Congress won’t make permanent Obama’s plan to deliver $400 tax cuts to most workers and $800 to couples this year and next. The temporary tax cut was enacted under Obama’s economic stimulus plan.

What’s funny is that Senator Conrad has come under fire for the double standard he’s applying to Obama’s spending.  Back when President Bush was in the White House, Conrad would rail against every single one of his budgets blaming the big deficits on the incompetence of George W.  But now that Obama’s the President, and his spending spree is taking us to new heights in terms of budget deficits and national debt, he’s been largely quiet.

Now it appears as though he wants to try and salvage some of that “budget hawk” label he loves to apply to himself.  But instead of attacking the mountains of new spending Obama is creating, Conrad is going after…the tax relief.

Granted, this tax credit wasn’t much in terms of tax relief.  It was more a bone the Obama administration threw out to distract people from the spending, deficits, etc.  But even so, Conrad’s priorities are skewed.

Of course, what else would you expect from a big government liberal like Conrad?
