Sister Souljah, We Hardly Knew Yah
Elizabeth Edwards has criticized the MoveOn.org 'Betray Us' ad, saying "someone whos spent their life in the military doesnt deserve General Betray Us.
It's great that she said it, and kudos to the Edwards campaign for being the first to distance itself from that despicable ad. But . . . Elizabeth Edwards isn't running for president - her husband is. Is the Edwards campaign trying to have its cake and eat it too, by creating a little deniability here in case MoveOn.org pushes back? Is this a real Sister Souljah moment, or just a trial balloon? Where is the candidate himself on this?
It would be nice to have the Edwards campaign put out feelers to see if the other candidates can then safely reject the ad as well, but you have to strike while the iron is hot. If Hillary later criticizes the ad, it will of course look like a calculated political maneuver on her part rather than a genuine abjuration of the ad.
