Sign The Petition: Keep Drew Wrigley As US Attorney

Now that Barack Obama is President, US District Attorney for North Dakota Drew Wrigley may be losing his job. In the past Senators Kent Cornad and Byron Dorgan supported Wrigley’s appointment to his position, but now that Obama is President they seem to be backing away from their support.
Yesterday the Fargo Forum called on Barack Obama to stand behind his talk of post-partisanship and re-appoint Wrigley. The Forum also called on Senators Conrad and Dorgan to petition Obama to keep Wrigley. While I don’t often see eye-to-eye with the Forum editorial board, this is one instance where I do.
Scott Hennen is also behind this effort. Today he has on Linda Walker, Dru Sjodin’s mother (Wrigley tried and prosecuted Dru’s murderer), to talk about why Wrigley should keep his job.
I’d like to do my part as well, and would encourage you readers to sign this online petition to support Wrigley remaining US Attorney for North Dakota.
If you’re a Facebook user be sure to join the group started by Walker supporting Wrigley as well.

The first thing Obama should do is fire everyone and anyone even remotely associated with the republican party.

Weren't Democrats investigating Bush for firing Democrat US Attorneys?

  • Dino

Yeah, when republicans gain power you people are all about holding hands and singing, right? LOL

The republicans kept democrats in the basement of the Capitol while they destroyed the country from 94-07. The good thing is that they have no rational basis to blame dems since they were kept out.

To all bloggers on the SayAnything. Free speech allows Dino to say what he wants, but we don't have to respond. Should we just "ignore the donkey in the room"? You know, Grant me the serenity to ignore the trolls, the courage to debate with honest opponents, and the wisdom to know the difference.

They weren't democrat attorneys. They were fired for not being partisan enough. If US Attorneys serve at the pleasure of the Prez and they're republicans, they should GO.

That's customary when a new admin comes in. Replacing them in the middle for not doing the admin's bidding is not.

Actually, a courtesy that is not returned in kind allows the creep to vomit his insanities at the blog.

But I agree. It's best to ignore most of what he says. It's easy to skip over his tripe.

So you're saying that you hold Democrats to a different standard than Republicans.

Well, at least you're honest about being a hypocrite.

Maybe Condrad and Dorgan can't support Drew Wrigley because he tends to proscecute based on the facts and not like Obama wants it done which is "support the 'little guy' against big bad corporations" regardless of the facts. Read–inner city criminals need special handling. Maybe they do, because they can't read well, never finished school, have limited family life and the job opportunities are all beyond where the bus goes.

  • Dino

It is highly unusual to replace US attorneys in the middle of a President's term. it is common to replace them when admins change. That's why what bush did was looked at suspiciously.

If US attorneys serve at the pleasure of the President then that's it. The President can replace them at any time.

For the record, I won't say that Obama is doing anything illegal if he replaces Wrigley. I will criticize him, however, for making a bad choice.

    That's the difference.

No actually they were Republicans. They just had ethical issues about pursuing bogus prosecutions for political purposes.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Doesn't matter if they were Democrat or Republican. Part of being President means setting policy. Why should the President abide appointees who don't follow his administration's policies?

    No actually they were Democrats.

The investigations of Bush were nothing but bogus prosecutions for political purposes.

  • Dino

Exactly Rob. That's why this guy and all other republicans should be GONE as soon as possible.

Obama should fire the whole White House staff too or face the same thing Clinton did where the assholes who worked for the republicans spread gossip.

Fire them and deny them unemployment. Make them leave the country if posssible.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/ likwidshoe

Wow. Some on the left believe this country is a third world banana republic.

It is the "Hope" and "Change" Obama was warning us about.

  • Lioncourt

When the policy is to prosecute Democrats on bogus charges right before an election, than the attorneys should stand up. However, under Bush, the ones that did were fired.

But if you really believe that a President should be able to fire those attorneys that don't follow his policies, than you should support Obama appointing a democratic attorney in ND.
