Sierra Club Using Mobile Billboards

Mobile billboards are still something of an oddity here in North Dakota, but in other parts of the country they’re pretty common. Basically, what they are is just a billboard attached to the back of a big truck of van which then drives around through major traffic areas so that pedestrians and other drivers see the ads. They look something like this:

They seem like a fairly innovative way to advertise, but you wouldn’t think they’d be something the Sierra Club sent a big, fat SUV to escort Arianna “SUV’s SUPPORT THE TERRORISTS!!!” Huffington to and from one of their conventions.

pinklette must be in the business. The trucks do not “move around anyway”. They are trucks that drive around solely to be seen, producing emissions continually and adding to traffic congestion.

we’re talking 10mpg or so. Yikes.

Less when they’re idling in traffic. Yikes, indeed!

One of the funniest things I've seen was back in the months before the 2000 election. It was a "Vote for Ralph Nader" sign… nailed to a tree.

I personally wanted to get a Corvair and put a Nader bumper sticker on it. :^)

But yes, this is really funny. One quick correction; they burn a lot of diesel fuel in general, not gasoline, and given that they're built on a 2 ton or so chassis (is this really necessary?), we're talking 10mpg or so. Yikes.

It's a good thing the Sierra Club acted hypocritically here. Now I don't have to recycle! I'm absolved from personal responsibility…yay!

  • WOOFX

The Sierra Club sold out awhile back.

Apparently I was responding to a spam comment that was removed!
