Shoe-Throwers Asks Iraqi Prime Minister For A Pardon

Maliki, predictably, says no.
What’s interesting is that while the media/left in America celebrates this guy as a hero he’s apparently regretting he pulled the stunt.

[Maliki spokesman Yassin] Majid confirmed to FOX News that Muntadhar al-Zeidi has asked the Iraqi president [sic] for a pardon, and expressed “regret and sorrow” for his behavior.
“It is too late to now to regret the big and ugly act that I perpetrated,” al-Zeidi wrote, according to Majid…
Majid told FOX News that al-Maliki, who tried to shelter Bush from the incoming shoes with his arm, is inclined to let Iraqi law run its course.

Maliki is right to let the Iraqi courts handle this.
Let’s just hope that whatever judge gets the case handles it appropriately. Like a short prison sentence and maybe a fine.

    Schumer (D-NY) among others were right behind him in their “differing opinion” with Iraq.

    Would you be behind a shoe assault on the President Elect because he picked an anti-gay pastor to give the inagural invocation? Is that considered proper?

    Hey Kenny. Well…you know that is not exactly what happened. There are a lot of things that we can spin to make our arguments. The bottom line is Bush did a hell of a lot more than simply offer a different opinion.

    I think we can agree Iraq was bombed/liberated….people were freed, and people were killed. We fight terrorists…after we brought them in. There are several ways of looking at what happened in Iraq.

    Fahrenheit might have had a lot of hypberbole, but none of the arguments I made represented the hyperbole……it was just a stripped down version….all true.

As a matter of fact, shortly after the official Iraqi government took place one of the first things they did was ban everything related to the Baath party, and for a very good reason. The Baath party was corrupt, evil and represented a repressive inhuman treatment over the people of Iraq. But hey, you’re an idiot who would argue in favor of anything just for the sake of it.

    No. That may be the liberal version of what happened, but it’s hardly the truth. Here’s a bare bones version.

    The US government had been seeking regime change since 1998. With the full support of Congress, Bush went in to remove Saddam. After we bombed Baghdad and toppled the army, we found a country in SHAMBLES. People were starving to death from lack of basic food. Entire areas had been neglected for decades. We found that the infrastructure in the country was non-existant.

    Within days, a Baathist/foreign hybrid insurgency had formed. Foreign fighters were fighting US forces with 72 hours across the country. While some of them may have come in after the fall…the sheer numbers indicate that many were there before we invaded.

    Moreover, the insurgents deliberately targetted civilians to case chaos…putting the death toll on them.
