Should McCain Pick A New VP?

After a couple days of Palin-bashing the media is feeling pretty triumphant, and now the “will McCain drop Palin” meme is sneaking into the nation’s punditry.
My first reaction is to say that if McCain drops Palin, who represents the only person to excite the conservative base since about 2005, he’s dead in the water. The backlash from conservatives would be swift and terrible.
My second reaction is, what has the media really told us about Palin that makes her unacceptable as McCain’s VP? As Allah at Hot Air explains:

What does the media have to show for all these breathless scandals they’ve dug up? We found out her daughter’s pregnant, but McCain probably knew about that in advance; in any case, the base has rallied around her in the aftermath and independents are unlikely to care two months down the road. We found out she was once a member of the Alaska Independence Party — except that, er, she wasn’t, and as Smith notes, it’s not nearly as fringe a party as one might think. We found out Todd Palin had a DUI back when Wham! was still together. We found out she flip-flopped on the bridge to nowhere, which would sting if not for the fact that she flip-flopped in the right direction and ended up torpedoing it. We found out she requested earmarks as mayor of Wasilla in the fine tradition of The One, who also claims to stand for “Change.” We found out she hopes God approves of what our soldiers are doing overseas. And as to the one big story that’s cooking, Troopergate, we found out nothing: She has a private lawyer now and the Democrat in charge of the investigation is trying hard to make Republicans panic, but like the Bristol Palin news, this is one thing McCain probably did vet thoroughly given the stakes.

When the smoke clears I think Palin is going to be just fine. In fact, I think the only thing Republicans are going to regret about their 2008 presidential ticket is that John McCain is on top of it.

No. She has pulled many that were going to “sit this one out” back into the fold. This was a score for John. If he were to fumble now by dropping Palin, Barry will win hands down.

Let the media keep pissing themselves over her. America loves an underdog, and they are making her into one. They ARE that stupid.

Intrade actually has an opportunity for you to trade in whether Palin will be withdrawn.

    What silliness.

Bottom line, Palin rocks her speech tomorrow night and the whole game changes. hard to call her a bimbo when she gives a superstar speech.

Today McCain canceled an interview on CNN because Campbell Brown was too hard on Tucker Bounds. She actually asked him what decisions Palin had made as CinC of the Alaskan National Guard that showed she had experience, because this was a McCain campaign talking point. Well Tucker Bounds was not able to answer so she pressed him. He looked like an ignorant fool. Apparently this was to mean for the McCain campaign.

The sad part is that she has deployed the Alaskan National Guard. The McCain campaign just doesn’t know about it.

So I guess hard questions are out of bounds for the McCain campaign.

But it is certainly questionable strategy to run your VP candidate against the other party’s Presidential candidate.

Actually, it’s the Dems comparing Palin to Obama. It is a questionable strategy for the Dems, considering she is much better qualified than Obama is.

  • robert108

    Palin hasn’t taken anything yet.

You lie, as usual. She has taken your Messiah right out of the news cycle, even with the heavy leftie bias in the MSM.
Good luck with your wishful thinking, rbb.

Lestat: Maybe you should be concerned that most people don’t vote for creeps.

  • Lestat

McCain can’t drop Palin because it would mean that his judgment sucks. He is locked into her.

But it is certainly questionable strategy to run your VP candidate against the other party’s Presidential candidate.

McCain seems to have dropped the attacks on Obama and hopes that Palin can win the election for him.

Last I checked, people don’t vote for Veeps.

Absolutely NOT!!!! Sarah Palin is more popular than any of the other three. I think what we are seeing here is that “THE MEDIA” really don’t want her because they realize their messiah may get beat by this recent “soccer Mom.”

THE MEDIA continues to analyze the process and Palin’s problems, making people wonder. If we stop and analyze it ourselves, we can see that the GOP can whip the DFL if we just stay-the-course.

    Choosing Palin was GENIOUS…

    More lies from 108.

The election is in November, big guy.
    Palin hasn’t taken anything yet.

    Except your foolish heart.

  • robert108

Well, she has taken the women’s vote, the undecided mom’s vote, the disaffected conservative vote(speaking personally), and has taken Obama off the news programs. She has also eliminated any sort of coup attempt by Hillary. She has also given McCain some much-needed credibility.
She’s the best possible pick, unless you could get Thompson/Palin, of course.
She’s all that, and a bag of chips.

    HAAAA

  • Mickey

Obama was intimidated by Hillary. He said it loud and clear: “NO HILARY, NO WAY, NO HOW”

McCain on the other hand is a confidant leader.
I’m looking forard to when Palin will face off against Hillary some day.

Should McCain Pick A New VP?

Wishful thinking on the part of the Obamarama cheerleaders in the MSM.

I love the smell of desperation in the morning!

    Heh.

And my heart, too! ::eyes fluttering::

Oh, please…. Did you see the crowd reaction to the mere mention of Gov Palin? This is getting ridiculous.
