Shocking News: Gun Owners Aren’t Just Criminals And Drug Dealers

Reuters with a big scoop:

The American affinity for guns may puzzle foreigners who link high ownership rates and liberal gun ownership laws to the 84 gun deaths and 34 gun homicides that occur in the United States each day and wonder why gun control is not an issue in the U.S. presidential election.

The owners are not just urban criminals and drug dealers. There are hunters and home security advocates, and then there are the gun collectors.

Jeez, and here I thought my guns made me the Norwegian Pablo Escobar or something.

The reason we have more gun deaths in one day than some countries have in a year is that this is a country that sees violence as the solution to all problems. Pissed off? Get a gun and kill someone. On dope or booze? Get a gun and kill someone. Got an ego? Get a gun and kill someone. When you have a foreign policy that says we will blow shit up and kill people any time we like, and will even fabricate reasons to justify it, it’s hard to expect anything else from the public.

That would be the ME terrorists, right?

The truth is, over 90% of privately owned guns in the US are not used for any criminal purposes.

Typical leftie “wag the dog” crap.

There are something like 200 million guns in the US.
I hope you made that up Rbot?

We’re a warrior culture.  If we weren’t using guns, we’d be using swords or something.

But we’re the problem, not the guns.

But we’re the problem, not the guns.

That’s true, and the problem is how much we value guns, and see them as a solution to problems.

Socialist,

So we should disarm not only the public but the police and military as well, right?  After all, guns are not the solution to problems.

While looking for a Boortz article I saw while Clinton was in power, stating that about 99 percent of citizen-owned guns are used lawfully every year (doing the math - 200 million guns, approximately 70 million US gunowners and 30,000 gun-related deaths, over half of those attributed to suicide, etc...) I found this article:

Why is it that liberals hate the idea of an armed citizen so much? They can read the statistics just like we can. If they care to research the matter, they will learn that people with concealed carry permits simply do not commit gun crimes! So, the liberal opposition to citizens carrying guns simply cannot be excused over fears for general public safety. The facts simply don’t bear those fears out. There has to be something else at work here, and there is. Liberals don’t like armed individuals because they are .... individuals. Carrying a gun for self-defense is, as I said, a uniquely individual pursuit. It’s a loud statement by an individual citizen saying “I own my life, and I have the right to take deadly action to defend it.” The liberal believes that your life belongs to government, and that it is the government’s job to protect it.

I think Neil really hit the nail on the head with that one, but even just as interestingly, that article was about a 16 year-old kid who stopped a school shooter, who had three guns, with a pencil.

Read the rest of it here.

And one other thing: cops are civilians too.

The distinction should be LEO‘s vs. Citizens

...for great justice

this is a country that sees violence as the solution to all problems.

Everything Socialist says is crap!

Which of the two above over-generalizations is closer to the truth?

Real Treckies keep their fazers on KILL.

I was cleaning my guns the other night and I realized I didn’t even know how many I actually owned. After a short recount I was happy to find fourteen. All accounted for and all in great shape. Somebody will inherit a nice batch of guns some day.
