Shocker: President-Elect Hope ‘N Change May Exploit Records Loophole To Hold Blago Records Back

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you, that Obama may not be fully disclosing his administrations contacts with Gov. Blago over the sale of Obama’s old Senate seat.

Barack Obama is promising that next week he’ll disclose contacts between his staff and disgraced Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s office, but he’s stopped short of pledging to release e-mails or other records that could be key to understanding those contacts.
Whatever such records exist may never see the light of day, thanks to a gap in government records disclosure laws that allows presidential transition teams to keep their documents — even those prepared using taxpayer dollars — out of the public record. . . .
Asked if the team would voluntarily release the records, the spokeswoman, Stephanie Cutter, was non-committal.

Remember when Obama was the “change” candidate who was going to clean up politics-as-usual in Washington?
If any of you voters out there who cast a ballot for Obama because of his changiness would like to contact me, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

The boundaries will have to be determined, though I’m sure the south will be almost entirely in the conservative camp.

And we liberals wouldn’t want it any other way.

Arkansas? Isn’t this the state with the chicken farms? Arkansas is a chicken shit state. Keep it.

  • RebTex

    Then the deal’s off.
It’s because Arkansas sucks so bad that keeps Louisiana from floatin’ off in the Gulf!

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

    * What did the President-elect and his incoming chief of staff Emanuel and advisor Axelrod — fellow Chicagoans both — know and when did they know it?

    * Did a member of the Obama team “drop the dime” on the Governor with the feds?

    * When will the Obama team release all relevant information to the press? Information such as e-mails, phone records, appointment schedules.

    * Will Attorney General-designate Eric Holder, himself under a cloud because of his judgment in the Clinton pardons of Marc Rich and Puerto Rican terrorists, recuse both himself and any incoming members of the Obama Justice Department team from the Blagojevich investigation?

    * When will the president-elect publicly promise that he will not fire investigating U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and Fitzgerald’s team, as Obama will have the ability to do the moment he is sworn in?

Last but certainly not least, what does the new administration intend to do to make sure that the creation of its much ballyhooed massive public works program does not fall into the hands of greedy state and local politicians like Blagojevich?

  • syn

Here’s your problem Dude, California and New York are going over the bankruptcy cliff which means soon ‘you liberals’ won’t have anywhere to live.

But hey do us all a favor, when the party is over don’t come crying for someone to help you get rid of your hangover.

The country is already split into two; those who collect a government check and those us who are forced to send a check to the government!

Kevin on December 21, 2008 at 08:33 pm

Stop sending it. Who the hell is forcing you? Pack up your shit and go find a a country that will not be forcing you to pay taxes. Get the fuck out of here if you don’t like it.

  • RebTex

How far will we let it decay before we give it up and split it legally? It’s like this bad marriage where no one wants to leave.

Lemmee guess…You want to split across the Mason/Dixon line……

Unlike the days when conservatives were effectively shut out of the media world”

Other than Chris Matthews and Oberfreak, I have a feeling that the media Sweeties are about to find out what it feels like to be effectively shutout of their own political party they helped to put into power.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

The lesson for conservatives as the Obama crowd begins to run the government is unmistakable.

Unlike the days when conservatives were effectively shut out of the media world, it will now become both possible and critical to meet the daily barrage of distracting falsehoods as well as the long term assaults on conservatism that are to be expected.

Assaults on individual freedom, on capitalism itself, on the free-market and, in foreign affairs, the time-tested principle of peace through strength.

The narrative — the storytelling of history — cannot be left unchallenged in the hands of those who will use the potency of the presidential bully pulpit and the media to convince Americans that up is down, left is right, the earth is flat and gravity — really, truly, cross-their-hearts — simply doesn’t exist.

  • RebTex

To work consistently to destroy your government as conservatives have done is no different than terrorism

    Come on, now…..
THe wails started from the leftists the INSTANT the Kyoto Treaty was turned away.
THey ripped a roid & have been at it every since.

  • ellinas

Do not be shocked. It has been happening for the last eight years. Yes Obama claimed change. It will be change as he sees it, not how you expect it to be.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

Beneath all the feel-good symbolism and feminine emotionalism, Barack Obama is a man of the radical left.

Obama is clever and pragmatic, it’s true. But his pragmatism is deployed on behalf of radical redistributive goals.

Obama’s heart is, and will remain, with the Far Left Marxists.

Here’s Obama in his book “Dreams From My Father” talking about his days at Columbia University.

“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists.”

No wonder Obama has refused to release his college transcript, despite an academic career that led him to Harvard Law School and, later, to a lecturing position at the University of Chicago.

And with the inaugural not even had, they are all busy re-creating a freshman U.S. Senator and his announced Marxist political policies from the campaign as the new gold standard of American and global life.

What they are pushing here is not, to say the least, true.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Poor syn. If California and NY go “bankrupt”, that means the south will look like Bolivia. Not that it doesn’t already.

No matter how much financial pain the liberal states exerpience, they’ll still be light years ahead of the conservative ones.

  • ellinas

So it will take an act of Congress, and a Constitutional amendment to boot, to make you hold your President accountable.
    That’s pathetic.

Rob on December 21, 2008 at 07:48 pm

My president? Mine? He does not belong to me.
You are calling him my president and not our president?
    That’s pathetic.

  • ellinas

Obama promised transparency, ellinas. When will you have the honesty to criticize your messiah for being, well, dishonest?

Rob on December 21, 2008 at 06:24 pm

Why do you call him my messiah? You are being dishonest here. When did I claim such a thing?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

If he answers all the questions there will be more questions. Nothing short of a confession that he did conspire to sell the Senate seat, that he is foreign born, that he is a socialist who won the election with illegal foreign contributions and that yes, Bill Ayers is his best friend, will satisfy conservatives.

If by some miracle this issue goes away and conservatives forget about it (highly unlikely), like a hydra, another scandal will grow to takes its place. The process will repeat for 4 years and if Obama is re-elected, will happen for 4 beyond that.

At some point this country split in two and no one has the balls to admit it and do the right thing by dissolving it. Instead, most of my adult life has seen bitter division and destructive tactics from both sides but primarily the right. There’s a feeling on the right that no liberal leadership, no matter how moderate, is a legitimate government. That is akin to treason in the rule book of how countries should operate. To work consistently to destroy your government as conservatives have done is no different than terrorism.

How far will we let it decay before we give it up and split it legally? It’s like this bad marriage where no one wants to leave.

They propably hired him because he is a senator.

    Yeah! it looks kinda weird.

I’ve seen it! It looks like literally a bridge to nowhere. It just kinda hangs out over the river…

You are a little late to complain about government e-mails being part of the public record. The Bush administration destroyed that precedent.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Hey, somebody call Ken Starr! We’ve got a President to start hunting!

Perhaps if conservatives had any ideas they could abandon their hopes of scandal.

  • ellinas

RebTex. Shiiiit! I guess nobody wants Arkansas. Give it back to Bill Clinton then, and lets proceed with the division.

Looks like akajoel is on a tear of brainstem-isms this morning.

“The media isn’t fair to us! WAHHHH!”

“There have been long term assaults on conservatism! WAHHHHH!!!!”

“Obama won’t release his transcripts! GASP!” (where have we heard that one before?)

    Take your meds, dude.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

The media is getting a little testy with Obama. Two pieces from ABC News’ The Note’ about how Obama is not taking any questions in these press conferences, how he’s not saying anything at the press conferences, he’s not providing information the press wants, such as, who on his staff spoke to Blago however many times.

He’s putting it off , blaming it on Fitzgerald.

The second piece from ABC: “Words Matter”: Pablum from the President-Elect.” This is ABC News. “Every day this week, Obama has held a press conference to introduce new members of his team.

In each instance, Obama has said … not a whole lot.”

Obama says nothing. He just says it better than anybody else. It’s how he says what he says, it’s not what he says.

  • 2Hotel9

In that nasal twang of the Grand Old Master delta blues man, it ain’t what you eat, its how you chew it.

  • 2Hotel9

So much for transparency and honesty.

And the best part, the Senator from Illinois is required to coordinate the change when they leave that post prior to the end of their term. He can’t even obey that simple a rule.

  • RebTex

Elli…The guy is a paid constitution law professor.

Is a 35 year old man is banging your teenage daughter OK?

atease on December 21, 2008 at 09:59 pm

If she is nineteen, and wants to bang a 35 year old how are you going to stop her? Can you? It is legal to copulate with 19 year old teenage women is it not?
I understand atease! To a puritan like you it is perfectly OK! for nineteen, nineteen year old horny studs to bang your nineteen year old teen aged daughter, but not OK for your nineteen year old daughter to copulate with a thirty five year old man. Makes sense!

  • atease

I have no problem even if the gov tried to sell it. I have no problem with that at all.

What do you have a problem with. Where do you draw the line then..? Is a 35 year old man is banging your teenage daughter ok? Is it ok to sell a seat in the US house to the taliban..?

What part of the rule of law do you agree with…..?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

You are a little late to complain about government e-mails being part of the public record. The Bush administration destroyed that precedent.

I never supported the Bush administration’s lack of transparency, so what’s your argument? Two wrongs make a right?

It will be change as he sees it, not how you expect it to be.

Obama promised transparency, ellinas. When will you have the honesty to criticize your messiah for being, well, dishonest?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Ah, yet another liberal who is just fine with the idea that Obama will be less-than-truthful about his dealings with Gov. Blago.

    How typical.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

So it will take an act of Congress, and a Constitutional amendment to boot, to make you hold your President accountable.
