Shocker: Pelosi Spent $1,000/Week On In-Flight Food And Booze Over The Last Two Years

That’s a $101,000 price tag for taxpayers, most of whom saw their own compensation go backward last year.

It reads like a dream order for some wild frat party: Maker’s Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E&J brandy, Bailey’s Irish Crème, Bacardi Light rum, Jim Beam whiskey, Beefeater gin, Dewars scotch, Bombay Sapphire gin, Jack Daniels whiskey … and Corona beer.
But that single receipt makes up just part of the more than $101,000 taxpayers paid for “in-flight services” – including food and liquor, for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trips on Air Force jets over the last two years. That’s almost $1,000 per week.
Documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by Judicial Watch, which investigates and prosecutes government corruption, show that the Pelosi incurred expenses of some $2.1 million for her use of Air Force jets for travel over that time.

Hey, nothing’s too good for Queen Nancy. I guess. I mean, she’s in Washington DC fighting hard for a health care bill most of us don’t want. So it behooves us plebes to make sure she’s comfortable when jetting around the country/world.

    Goon
Nancy Pelosi is a moron and the people of California that voted for this baffoon should be slapped

How come you got passed over?

  • sayanything-5371

This woman doesn’t need security or protection, especially at a cost of well over 4 million a year for travel. She is so vicious it’s the public that need to be protected from her.

  • Wayne

Alright, let’s find out what they all spend. And throw all the bums out.

  • Lock ‘em up

They are named. Go read the FOIA documents.

  • sayanything-5371

    You are queer.

  • sayanything-5371

You are as queer as a 9 dollar bill waiting on three 3 dollar bills for change, “not good enough for the GOP”.

  • sayanything-4603

it must have take that much boose to get someone to do her on the plane, sounds like the only reason for that expence

  • sayanything-4603

libs like the mile high club

  • Lock ‘em up

    YOU LIE!

  • Catatonic

The Speaker of the House was authorized by George Bush after 9/11 to get free rides from the Air Force. Check Snopes’ entry for her jet. Hastert used it roughly every weekend. Pelosi’s first 23 months she used it for 20 trips.

  • robert108

Most people learn that one wrong doesn’t justify another in grade school, if not before.
When are you going to grow up, ollie?

  • Lock ‘em up

You wanna go down and give me a smack on my hard what?

  • sayanything-342

    Democrats, the culture of corruption.

  • sayanything-15427

    Here is a better idea:

This is the 21st century. We should decentralize much of the government and make them stay in their home states 80% of the time. The government can pay for a dedicated T1 line and Video Conferencing equipment at their local offices.

This also reduces the power of Lobbyists who now have to fly all over the country or have offices in multiple states, and from a security standpoint it creates far flung targets instead of one big one. You could then direct more security specifically to the Speaker.

  • sayanything-5371

If something happened to both Obama and Biden and this beastly woman became president I think there would be a revolution in this country. She is easily the most hated woman in America. The best scenario is for Obama to serve out his term and disappear.

Bush should never have authorized military air travel for the Speaker. She is just a crook who is milking it for all it’s worth and pissing on us and telling us its raining.

  • sayanything-3664

While like you I don’t like her, I’m looking at the position she holds (hopefully for not much longer). As Speaker she’s next in line after the VP, then the President pro tempore. In the past they didn’t get shuttled but everyone else in line does. Though as I implied ( I should have been more clear), if the President pro tempore doesn’t get it, the Speaker shouldn’t. And she certainly shouldn’t abuse the perk.

  • sayanything-5371

The fuel alone for her weekly coast to coast trips is about 70,000 dollars EACH WAY. It amounts to 3.5 million per year. What value do us citizens get for that?

No wonder thay hate Tea Parties. They know that what they are doing is what the Brits did to the Colonies. Bleed us dry.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

They say alcohol kills germs. I’m doing this for my health! Heh.

  • sayanything-5371

POS liberal hacks like you will always find a way to rationalize and justify the excesses of your deities. You are the same freaks who said it was OK for Michael Jackson to molest kids because he was a celebrity and that they deserve for certain transgressions to be overlooked.

You libs are so out of touch with reality. We are going to smack you down hard in November.

  • Lock ‘em up

YOU LIE! “‘in-flight services’ – including food and liquor” doesn’t equal “In-Flight Food And Booze”

Even if it did, it was probably spent with stimulating the economy in mind.

  • sayanything-1321

Show me a Republican who hasn’t done the same thing and not charged it to the taxpayer and I will show you a lying son of a bitch.

  • sayanything-106

Nancy Pelosi is a moron and the people of California that voted for this baffoon should be slapped.

  • sayanything-5371

You are a buffoon. Pelosi flies back and forth across the US every weekend at HUGE expense. No way the taxpayers should be footing a bill that is 3.5 million per year just for the fuel. Go ahead and see if you can find a GOP congressman or senator who does this. This is fiscally irrresponsable.

  • Lock ‘em up

I didn’t have time to read all the receipts, but Theycallmerino put it pretty well:

You do realize that it does actually cost money to feed people when they are traveling on business, right? In reviewing some of the actual FOIA documents … some of these congressional delegations have upwards of 20, 30, 50+ people. All on one flight. That’s a lot of mouths to feed. It’s not cheap to feed that many people traveling internationally for multiple days.
Also, from the documents – on p. 14 there is an expense for $700 worth of food from Sam’s Club in Waldorf, MD, and $150 from Costco. Freakin’ Sam’s Club and Costco – discount wholesale warehouses, to stock the plane. Yes, clearly they’re just out of control and spending recklessly. On p. 17, you can see the actual reciepts – lasagna (I’m assuming frozen), mixed nuts, lettuce, cucumbers, cake. Why didn’t Rob show us those? I can’t believe these congressional delegations are eating cake on the taxpayer’s nickel!!!

So, all in all … a ridiculous headline, more partisan hackery. Let’s take two years of all travel expenses for congressional trips of dozens of people, highlight the alcohol receipts, and pretend there’s not much else.

  • Lock ‘em up

Yep, you are a moron if you think your representatives will pay their own way.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

The reason why the speaker flies in a government jet is supposedly because of security. Nothings stopping her from paying for her own drinks.

By the way, the airman on an Air Force plane have to pay for their own box lunches.

  • sayanything-5371

Pelosi should be taking commerical flights, seated in coach class. Paid for once a month. This is an outragious pig at the trough display of big government excess.

  • sayanything-203

    Lick ‘em,

Are you saying that if we cut off their access to taxpayer paid transportation they won’t show up for work? That’s a helluva bargain!

    All in favor?

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

    “YOU LIE!”

    Double shot, everyone!

  • robert108

“Everybody does it.” as an excuse for corruption went away during Clinton.
This is just an attempt to distract from Pelosi’s extreme corruption.

  • sayanything-203

    Lick ‘em,

I don’t expect that explaing this will do any good… at least not in your case. Still, when you overuse an accusation, to the point at which it becomes a cliche and then a joke, the accusation loses all meaning or relevance, and the accuser looks like a hapless buffoon.

Those of you on the Left have done with already with cries of “racism.” You’ve thrown that one around like rice at a wedding, to the point where nobody with any sense takes the accusation seriously any more… or even cares.

You’re also doing it with accusations of lying. To you lefties, whose grasp of the English language is at best tenuous anyway, anyone who disagrees with your progressive credo or dares to insert rational thought and reality into your liturgy is labeled a liar. And again, the result of all that tedious repitition is that nobody much gives a sh*t any more.

Yes, the fable about the boy who cried “Wolf!” may seem trite (though not nearly as trite as your accusations!), but you shouldn’t lose sight of who it was that the wolf ate in the end.

  • sayanything-5371

I just wrote my congressman about this Pelosi broad abusing government funds. I encourage everyone else on here to do the same.

  • sayanything-2819

I think the outrage is caused by the current economic situation and the fact that at our expense, they have the best of everything. It’s no wonder they fight so hard to stay once they get there?

    Why are we funding booze?

  • lock’em’up

You need to adjust your gaydar WillHuntForCock.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Bottoms up! (Don’t worry, liquored up! I’m still twice the man drunk that you are sober!) Heh.

  • sayanything-3664

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that the shuttling of the Speaker didn’t come in to practice until after 9/11. So it’s hard to compare the parties, since there was only one before her (Dennis Hastert). She has, however, insisted upon a larger plane so that it wouldn’t stop for refueling from the East Coast to the West Coast.

I’m not sure if the President pro tempore gets the same courtesy. If not, maybe the newly created custom should be re-thought, and the Speaker should go back to commercial travel.

Personally, I would be ok with the tax payer paying for seven round trip business class ticket to DC for any Congressman/Senator or the cost of gas to drive six round trips (at standard GSA rates), which ever is cheaper. This would be the Congressman/Senator only, the individual would have to pay for family members (not the taxpayers). This would pay for them to arrive at the beginning of the Congressional year, spend recesses in their home district (hopefully visiting constituents), and travel home at the end of the Congressional year. Standard per diem rates would also be given to provide meals on travel days (75% of full per diem). This would have them travel like the rest of the Gov (more or less).

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

They depressurize the cabin. I understand that just before hypoxia sets in, Nancy looks like a real dish!
    (The booze doesn’t hurt!)

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

So…your argument is that two wrongs make a right?

    Not very compelling….

  • bikebubba

Um, y’all, lay off the sexual innuendoes. You sound like you’re some of the Street Fairies that are apparently on Ms. Pelosi’s flights.

I don’t mind paying a bit in taxes to keep national leaders safe, especially as the Air Force pilots carrying her do indeed need flight hours to do their job well. I do, however, think it’s entirely appropriate to ask why it’s apparently costing $500 or more to feed her and her apparent entourage on a five hour flight. Are those other passengers paying their way at standard first class airfare rates, are they repaying the government for their food, and so on?

At Sam’s Club prices, after all, $500 feeds about fifty people, even if you’re getting the best stuff they carry. It follows that Pelosi’s Posse needs to be named, and it needs to be determined whether they’re repaying the government for the hospitality.

  • MarkSD

Like that! And it’s Friday. Happy hour here we come!

  • jcrue

they don’t need the booze. plain and simple. everything else should be scrutinized.

  • sayanything-4744

And I didn’t even get a liquor stimulus!

Spending this kind of money is just ridiculous. I just booked a trip for work that cost less than one weeks food and booze money for our illustrious Speaker, and I was asked to try and book a different one to try and save money for the travel budget. THe company I work for is not what you would call “small”.

Hopefully the internets get as abuzz about this as the Alito/SotU flap.

  • bikebubba

OK, Lock’em up, I’ll bite. Exactly what other in-flight services is Mrs. Pelosi getting out of this? Keep in mind that the pilot and other attendants on the plane are paid for by the Air Force.

Or do we want to know? Maybe some performers from the Folsom Street Fair or something?

  • MarkSD

All that booze? That explains a lot of her actions!

  • bikebubba

OK, Lock’em up; now, how many people does it take to eat $700 worth of food on a five hour flight? I’m sorry, but even if you go pretty nice, we’re talking about this woman taking an entire entourage with her.

The amount of money isn’t that big a deal. Like others noted, fuel alone far exceeds that. However, the size of the bills for food and beverage suggest that something is going on here that is not simply transportation. She’s buying favors with that jet and the public purse, if Lock’em up’s investigation of bills with Sam’s Club and elsewhere is indicative.

  • sayanything-3444

Oh man – I’m gonna have to hose down my brain with Lysol after that – too horrifying for words let alone thought. And there isn’t enough booze on the planet.
