Shocker: Obama’s Department Of Justice Drops Charges Against Former Cabinet Nominee

Former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, to be exact, who endorsed Obama after dropping his own bid for the Democrat nomination in 2008 and subsequently had his nomination to the FTC dropped after a quid pro quo kickback scandal came to light. Now, much like the charges against New Black Panther members who stood outside a Pennsylvania polling place with billy clubs, that case against him has been dropped.
By Obama.
Hope and change!

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former high-ranking members of his administration won’t be criminally charged in a yearlong federal investigation into pay-to-play allegations involving one of the Democratic governor’s large political donors, someone familiar with the case said.
The decision not to pursue indictments was made by top Justice Department officials, according to a person familiar with the investigation, who asked not to be identified because federal officials had not disclosed results of the probe.
“It’s over. There’s nothing. It was killed in Washington,” the person told The Associated Press.

Nothing says “ethical leadership” like killing criminal charges against your political allies.
But hey, that’s the Chicago way.

DoJ is no longer politicized like it was during the last 8 years.

Then explain why the Black Panthers were not prosecuted. If you can do that I’ll buy off on your claim.

President Obama’s Justice Department continues to stonewall inquiries about why it dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party.

The episode–which Bartle Bull, a former civil rights lawyer and publisher of the left-wing Village Voice, calls “the most blatant form of voter intimidation I’ve ever seen”–began on Election Day 2008. Mr. Bull and others witnessed two Black Panthers in paramilitary garb at a polling place near downtown Philadelphia.

When the Village Voice guy thinks its the most blatant form of voter intimidation he’s ever seen that’s saying something.

When none of the defendants filed any response to the complaint or appeared in federal district court in Philadelphia to answer the suit, it appeared almost certain Justice would have prevailed by default. Instead, the department in May suddenly allowed the party and two of the three defendants to walk away.

So the DOJ was going to win and just decided to walk away from the most blatant case of voter intimidation ever. How’s that not political?

Yep, this is the most transparent administration in history. Everyone, who isn’t wearing rose colored glasses, can easily recognize how crooked they are.

While it certainly is possible that there are no grounds for prosecution here, it does seem rather fishy doesn’t it? What’s next, a pardon for “Cold-Cash” Jefferson?

  • brain trust

By the time our dictator is out of office in four years there will be enough material to write a book about all these crooks. Oh, wait, that has already been done!

  • brain trust

Lets not forget about the two black panther members threatening people at the polling place.

You lie again, little stalker! This act, and the releasing of the New Black Panther thugs who intimidated voters at the polls, are totally political. Neither of them has anything to do with justice.

    They pulled a Sandy Burger–breathtaking.

RCB, your comment would have a little more credibility if the Obama administration hadn’t killed a few investigations of its own party, at least one of which actually has what amounts to a confession of election crimes.

They’re digging themselves a nice deep hole here.

The mistake they’re making is simple – they’re assuming they always be in power from now on and that no one will be able to take a good hard look at what they’re doing.

People who think they’re smarter than everyone else often make to same error. Prisons are full of people like that.

Another example of Obama cronyism; the removal of the inspector general after he documented the illegal diversion of funds–and the non-prosecution of FOB (friend of Barack) responsible.

  • http://www.bikebubba.blogspot.com/ Bike Bubba

And another; the promotion of prosecutor Fitzgerald just as he was about to send Blago to the clinker–possibly opening up a LOT of interesting evidence about Senator Burris’ predecessor in the process.

Heck, exactly who leaked the info about the Blago investigation to the Trib, cutting short the Blago investigation before it could really reach up high….?

Sounds like a technique right out of the republican handbook.

Nothing says “the least transparent administration in history” like Obama doing what he said he wouldn`t do. Sounds like a technique right out of the Dems playbook.

What will become of Gitmo when the present occupants are cleared out? It would make a great place to incarcerate “Tea Baggers”, Town Hall questioners, “scabs”, and prominent radio talk show hosts.

Ollie-B, perhaps you can give a Bush administration decision not to prosecute political allies? None come to mind right now.
