Shocker: Obama US Attorney Nominee Even More Of A Political Hack Than First Thought

The hits keep coming on the decision by Barack Obama to nominate trial lawyer/Democrat money man Tim Purdon to North Dakota’s US Attorney spot. We know that Purdon is a party hack. Former treasurer of the North Dakota Democrat party. Member of the Democrat National Committee. Close associate to the disgraced John Edwards. Broker behind the millions upon millions of out-of-state trial lawyer money that gets dumped on the North Dakota Democrat party.
But here’s another tid-bit to nibble on. Since at least 2002, and as late as 2008, Purdon has been the treasurer of Rep. Earl Pomeroy’s NODAK political action committee.
So, just to review, the Obama administration and North Dakota Democrats felt like a good pick for North Dakota’s next US Attorney would be a party hack and money man with close ties to one of the slimiest politicians to disgrace American politics in a generation and no experience as an actual prosecutor. And he just happens to be the “bag man” for one of the members of Congress who no-doubt facilitated his nomination.
But hey, at least he’s paid his taxes unlike some of Obama’s other nominees. At least, as far as we know.
And just so we’re clear, Obama is the President. And US Attorneys serve at his pleasure. I’m not going to play the game Democrats played with Bush’s decisions on US Attorneys. That being said, they certainly could have picked someone better than Tim Purdon.

it’s absolutely no business of the public if the President is awarding U.S. attorney slots without regards to ability, and with full attention to who has done the most for the Democratic Party.

You have no idea about his ability. He is a partner in a firm that practices in criminal law. None of the Democratic Party jobs you have mentioned are full time. I will admit that he is a Democratic Party activist, but than again this is a political appointment. Always has been.

And just so we’re clear, since the Democrats politicized such matters, it’s all fair game now.

  • Lioncourt

Why does in naturally equate that somebody who is politically active is a party hack. You have provided no evidence to back up this accusation.

Also, he is a partner in a law firm that practices in criminal defense. I will bet he has logged many hours in criminal court.

And just so we’re clear, Obama is the President. And US Attorneys serve at his pleasure. I’m not going to play the game Democrats played with Bush’s decisions on US Attorneys. Than what game are you playing? Because it seems to me that is exactly what you are doing.

Has there been a time, ever, when you didn’t root for the statist party line?

You are such a good little apparatchik.

  • sayanything-2819

You said smegma. HEh, heh, heh. Good word!

  • sayanything-6955

    Well stated bb.

What is wrong with the current Assistant District Attorney. Not only dose she seem qualified she is a minority 1. She is female and 2. She is a Native American. So she should be right up the dems alley.

Lioncourt, is it that obscure to you that the chief federal prosecutor in a given area really ought to know the ropes before he’s given that job? That if you put someone in there with no experience dotting the “i” and crossing the “t” on every form used there, you just might be flirting with disaster? That this isn’t a sinecure like, say, the Ambassador to Liechtenstein or Luxenbourg?

They do. And so does criticism between them.

  • sayanything-7702

Does he know a good dentist because it looks like he has smegma on his teeth..

  • sayanything-7702

and he does have a hairline like the nodak combover twins..

  • sayanything-6955

Another problem for Pomeroid, as if he doesn’t have enough! Hey Tim, you keep tabs on my PAC money there buddy and there will be some “returns” for you! Hey and while you are still here can you get some of “bad rug” Dorgan’s 4 million turned my way too? Pomeroid is toast.

Former treasurer of the state party. Democrat National Committee member. Treasurer of Earl Pomeroy’s PAC. Close associate of John Edwards. Broker for millions of trial lawyer money coming into the ND Dem party.

I’ve provided the evidence. You just haven’t been reading.

Yeah, Lioncourt, it’s absolutely no business of the public if the President is awarding U.S. attorney slots without regards to ability, and with full attention to who has done the most for the Democratic Party. It’s not like such men might be likely to pervert justice in which cases they take……one can’t point at, say, the guy who worked to get Marc Rich pardoned and suggest that such a man might ignore clear evidence of the Black Panthers working to indimidate voters in Pennsylvania and fraudulent activities by ACORN and instead attack the NCAA.

Oh, wait, that’s exactly what happened. So yes, the President has the right to make these decisions; we’ve got the right (and the responsibility) to point out that such decisions have consequences.

  • sayanything-4642

    elections matter

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

What? I’m not saying it’s illegal for Obama to appoint a hack like Purdon. Any more than it was illegal for Bush to fire some federal prosecutors he didn’t like. Obama can appoint anyone he wants, and the Senate confirms.

But I can certainly criticize his picks. Or are you no longer in favor of dissent?
