Shocker: Obama Is Time Magazine’s Man Of The Year
And the media’s love affair with The One continues, though I’ve to admit that seeing Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson as a runner-up was a bit of a shock.
NEW YORK – President-elect Barack Obama has won another contest: He’s been named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2008.
The magazine has named Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Gov. Sarah Palin and Chinese director Zhang Yimou as runners-up.
Paulson? Paulson? The guy who masterminded the financial bailout disaster? The man squandering a trillion or so dollars on failed financial companies?
The man who is keeping the public from knowing who those bailout payments are going to?
Why should he get to be man of the year?
Anyway, here’s the Time article. The headline is “Why History Can’t Wait.”
I guess the folks at Time are ready to induct Obama into the hall of fame before he even has an at-bat. Which is typical of the media isn’t it?
Unfortunately Time, which once put Adolf Hitler on the cover as “Man of the Year,” has a pretty poor track record in this sort of thing.
