Shocker: Drivers Licenses For Illegals In Mexico Being Exploited By International Smugglers

The ironic part is that “public safety” was one of the concerns expressed by those supporting giving drivers’ licenses to illegals.  They said that if we didn’t give the illegals drivers’ licenses they’d drive anyway and the roads would be less safe.

I can’t speak to the safety of the roads in New Mexico now that illegals have drivers licenses, but according to this article the number of international smugglers seeking drivers’ licenses in New Mexico has gone up significantly.

A criminal complaint was filed against a Brazilian man and a Kazakhstan woman after federal agents arrested 10 illegal immigrants in an investigation into an alleged smuggling operation involving fake documents to obtain New Mexico driver’s licenses. . . .

New Mexico, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Oregon, Utah and Washington do not require drivers to prove legal status to obtain a license.

In 2003, Gov. Bill Richardson signed a measure into law that allowed foreign nationals , including those living illegally in the country , to obtain a driver’s license. His office has said one of the deciding factors in signing the bill was public safety.

Applicants for a New Mexico driver’s license who don’t have a Social Security number can present identification such as a tax identification number, a foreign passport or a Matricula Consular issued by the Mexican government.

Is anyone really surprised that this is going on?  The liberals have states handing out identification with next to nothing required for verification.  It was only a matter of time before the criminals began to exploit the situation.

An out and out lie.  If the illegal alien was willing to break the law to a) get here in the first place and b) drive without a license because none was offered then it is safe to assume that any illegal alien who could not pass a driver’s test will continue to drive without a license.

The illegal immigration activists will never be able to get past the fact that illegal means illegal.  And, while I don’t see violating our immigration laws on the same level as murder, someone willing flagrantly break our law in one point is likely to break other laws just as cavalierly.  They are not poor, little, innocent people just yearning to make a buck any more than the guy running a three card monte on the street corner.

Isn’t this the same plan Spitzer proposed for New York that Hillary was for and against and for and against all in the same debate?

Those who think the party or the country, will be “taught a lesson” by handing the levers of power over to the liberals will learn a lesson, but it will be at the expense of our country and her liberties. And there are no guarantees that the party or the country will come out stronger, more conservative or better positioned to win elections against the incumbent liberals.

Preaching to the choir but the three candidates running for president don’t think enforcing the law is important.

Hooray Washington! (/sarcasm).  I know I’ve mentioned it before, but the DoL here in the evergreen state will hand out licenses that say “Not Valid for Identification Purposes.”

SS cards say the same thing?
“Not Valid for Identification Purposes.”

Woof,

Besides the fact that there is no photo of the person to whom it was issued, do you know why the Social Security cards are not valid for identification purposes?  Hmmm?
