Senator Stabenow’s Snap At Senator Kyl Illustrates How Democrats Don’t Get It On Insurance Mandates

The liberals are having a chuckle at this zinger tossed by Senator Debbie Stabenow at Senator John Kyl who was trying to get an amendment passed to fill a bunch of premium-inflating insurance mandates that Democrats want to foist on we taxpayers. Senator Kyl, in making a point about how these mandates often require people to pay for coverage they don’t need, pointed out that he personally doesn’t need maternity coverage.
Senator Stabenow snapped back: “Your mom probably did.”

Yuck it up, liberals, but Senator Kyl has a point. Not everyone plans on having children.
What if you’re a single, unattached male who isn’t planning on having any children? What if you’re a male or female who is incapable of having children? What if you’re gay?
In those instances, why should you have to pay for maternity coverage you don’t need? Why can’t it be an option?
Apparently, because people like Senator Stabenow say so.
And it’s more than just maternity insurance. We’re talking about coverage for a number of things you may not need. Like tobacco cessations program. Addiction counseling. Things like that you’ll be forced to pay for coverage for even if you’ve never smoked a cigarette or had a drink.
Why? Again, because people like Senator Stabenow say so.

No, the insurance companies say so.

I had private insurance before. My carrier started offering everyone obstetric care which raised my rates by 40%. Now, there’s little chance that a single gay man will need obstetrics but we ALL had to pay.

The same thing happens with group coverage. Every place I’ve worked charges a flat fee for families whether one kid or 10. And we singles help subsidize that too.

THIS IS HOW YOU KEEP COSTS DOWN FOR EVERYONE.

But if you stems want to do things this way, I’m all for it. Women and children have WAAAYYY more health problems than us healthy single men. I’d LOVE to see you people trying to cope with such a pay-by-statistics system!

I could bring up the school issue again, too. Over half of all households are single people. Let’s return their taxes for the schools and force only those with kids to pay for them. That will devastate you.

So yeah, let’s do it. Make society cafeteria-style. I’ll make out like a bandit while the family types go broke.

    Looking forward to it!

I talked with a ah… someone recently, who tried to make an argument that forcing young to pay for old via a government plan was a brilliant idea. The first awkward pause came after I explained to him how this was taking away people’s freedom, and in fact was akin to slavery.
It really became awkward when I got a chance to explain economics mechanism behind it and demonstrated that the socialist health care system was not sustainable under any conditions (with nice examples of France, Germany and of course glorious motherland – Russia). I really wish I could convey the redness of his face… the pause was long and really really awkward….

Too bad you hate saving money.

Too easy, I’ll forgo the blowing money pun.

  • Ken

Dino you probably had to pay for obstetrics because you were either on an employer plan or because of a state mandate. You could save money if you could get an individual plan tailored to you.

I kind of doubt that. Even with all the extras that I don’t need, I’m still only paying $100 a month for a PPO family-plan my employer offers (it would be only $50 if I opted for the HMO). I don’t know of anyone with individual insurance in my state that pays that little (unless of course it’s temporary insurance for catastrophic events).

  • DINO

The plan I wrote about was an individual policy that cost me $120 per month with $5000 deductible.

Yes, we could all save money by opting out of paying for things we don’t use. For starters, I can get back that education tax money I mentioned. Then we can talk about the 30 cents of every dollar I pay for defense. I think the rich should pay for all of it since it’s their wealth and possessions were paying to protect. I imagine most commoners would get a better deal if just about any country in the world took us over.

  • J.L.

Dumbo-”I think the rich should pay for it all…” They already are, Mr. rocket scientist.

  • DINO

    No, they’re not, toady.

I’m not rich and I pay federal tax. I should get back the 30% that goes to defense and the top 1% should pay it because that’s who always loses when a culture is conquered.

You can see that throughout history. Whenever a culture is invaded, the richest people in the conquered culture suck up to the invaders to preserve their wealth and position in the social order. It will be no different here.

If Muslims terrorists began to gain a foothold in this cesspool country, the Wall Street/Cuntry Club/High Roller crowd would be furiously studying the Koran and making their women wear burkas.

Only the middle and lower class idiot conservatives fight to preserve the wealthy at the top of the social order in the hopes of being given a scrap now and then.

    Pathetic losers.

seriously, how this is funny? he doesnt need coverage… hes a dude.

what so sad is he was not fast enough on his feet to say, ‘and she (his dad) had it through her employer. its too bad some people think taking care of their family should be left to the nanny state. oh, and dont tell me the poor can afford it. we dont have poor people here. our poor are fat. our homeless have cellphones they use to take pictures of barrys wife as she is serving them food. now, dont interrupt me. i didnt bother you.’

When I had private, individual insurance, my carrier didn’t have to charge all of us for obstetrics but they did.

    That’s how insurance works.

The proletariat in Russia who had to wait in line for hours for basic food stuffs and toiletries would disagree that only the rich suffered. In fact, the ruling class (the rich) did rather nicely after the imposition of communism. It was the farmers, and the factory owners, and their employees who suffered.

  • robert108

…my carrier didn’t have to charge all of us for obstetrics but they did.

Wrong again, stem; the govt mandates what must be covered. If you weren’t so crack-addled, you would realize that if they could, private companies would devise multiple products to cover individual needs; the govt simply doesn’t allow that, just like they don’t allow competition across State lines.

It was the farmers, and the factory owners, and their employees who suffered.

And died, in large numbers. It’s how commies do rationing.

so switch companies. see hwo easy that is? what do you think with happen when barry takes over dinorob?? you will pay for that one way (monthly) the other (taxes) and get less service.

way to prove wit h your personal example how wrong you liberals are!!! kepp it up!!!

  • DINO

In most states, one or two carriers dominate the whole market.

Besides, they all charge the same. There’s no competition in the health care market anymore. Your market cultism has failed.

The ones that made it out alive.

That belies the claims of the rich Cubans exiled in Florida, too.

As usual, Kenny is full of shit.

PS. I thought you were blocking Dino?

you only have two health care insurance companies on the coast? more dinorob lies……

a quick google search using these terms ‘health insurance provider in oregon’ shows me at least one full page of options for you. google must lie, huh? ehealth has a list of about 8 alone. it looks like your state even has one you can join. its funny how stupid you liberals are. you dont even know when you are arguing against yourself.

Isn’t she on tape saying they are going to get to single payer?
