Senator Dodd: My Prostate Cancer Underscores The Need For Health Care Reform In America

Yeah, he really went there.

My hope is that we will pass the Health Care bill that we passed in the HELP Committee in the Senate so that every American will be able to get an annual physical and talk to their doctor about screening so that problems like this can be caught early and treated.”

Here’s reality, though: The survival rate for prostate cancer in the United States is 99.3%. In Europe, where there is “universal health care” of the sort Democrats favor for here in America?
The survival rate is more like 77.5%.
The survival rate for colon/rectal cancer in the United States is 65.5%. In Europe it’s 56.2%. For breast cancer there’s a 90.1% survival rate in the United States vs. a 79% survival rate in Europe.
In short, Chris Dodd is lucky he got prostate cancer in America before his party has managed to nationalize health care.

Let no crisis go to waste.

  • djer

No, so that every american can afford health care. What about the 10% who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Or those that are working but can’t afford insurance.

Oh, I know, we are all on our own.

  • http://ndgoon.blogspot.com/ goon

This is a load of bullshit because the senators don’t have to be on the same health care plan that they are expecting the electorate to be on.

So Rob, what is your idea to weed out those that brought their illnesses on themselves and thus are not deserving of healthcare and those who didn’t?

no, repeat, NO illness should be a lost cause. that said, i for one would certainly give the priority for dollars to those that contract diseases not of their own free will. first battle; the common cold and flu.

“Put a pillow over his face and let him suffocate”.

That’s what some of the “compassionate” leftists say to those who are American.

Nevermind that health care is a “right”. These little fascists (dictionary definition, not a slur) want the right to kill you.

Since Dodd is on a public plan he should show some patriotism and save us some money.

If paying taxes is patriotic ala Biden then denying himself treatment would be even moreso for Dodd.

  • sayanything-2483

He should listen to obama and just “take a pill” and live with it.

  • sayanything-6955

    Geoguy! well said.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

If Dodd believes the crap he's saying he'll be flying to England to get treated.

  • ndhojo

Ask Mr Dodd how would he feel about going to Canada for treatment. Maybe this will allow Mr Dodd to see the forest through the trees. No coops, singnal payer or Obama Care. This is where my Grandmother would say keep him in our prayers.

So which country is this moron going to go to to get his cancer taken care of?

Looks like our clunker Senator need to be traded in for a functioning model.

"so that every American will be able to get an annual physical and talk to their doctor about screening"?

Wait, we can't do that now? I mean, every American can go to a doctor and pay for an annual physical.

What the senator meant to say was this: "so that every American will be able to have someone else pay for them to get an annual physical and talk to their doctor about screening". There, I fixed it.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

So Djer, what you're worried about is how unaffordable government has MADE health care and insurance coverage.

Glad to have you on board.

  • sayanything-4625

What about the 10% who are unemployed through no fault of their own. Or those that are working but can't afford insurance.

We already have a program in place for people in that situation. Strangely enough, your very own president wants to cut that program. Maybe you should go rail at him for a change.

Medicaid is the United States health program for eligible individuals and families with low incomes and resources.

Unemployed through no fault of their own?

So not one person who is unemployed now lost their job because they're lazy? Or they steal? Or they have substance abuse problems? Etc., etc.?

    Give me a break.

"so that every American will be able to have someone else pay for them

    Exactly!

My brother has prostate cancer and he's receiving extensive chemo and additional treatments. He's receiving the best treatment right here in the USA.

Because of a fine print clause my insurance the company denied me a $20,564.00 cost (out of over a total of 109,000.00). It hit my pocketbook tremendously hard, but I'll be damned if I ever once thought that someone else should be responsible for paying for my health care. It may take me a bit … lol, but I'll do it without the help of other tax payers.

Good grief, I always thought it was the lifelong welfare recipients that were greedy SOB's but it's looking like the gov't isn't any better

bull crap. these kings and queens wont be using the same crap they will be giving us. nor will any of the rich. no way in hell.

  • Geoguy

If the stupid prick had to wait 12 months for a prostate biopsy, as he would have to under Obamacare, he probably would be dead in three-five years because his Gleason Index would have tripled.
That's even if his PSA were checked in a routine exam, which would be doubtful under Obamacare.
In other words, private medicine saved that cocksucker's ass and he should be grateful, the motherless fuck.
    Pardon my French.

You have to remember by the Dumbocrats point of view is that everyone is a victim and that evil capitalist fired the worker unfairly or illegally. You've got to start thinking like a Marxist.

  • http://Verizon.com/ ND in MD

When it comes to treatment, I am sure Chris Dodd will want to forgo treatment in the USA and want to be treated in the country with the best medicinal care, technology and facilities for the average person, that is right, the worker's paradise known as Cuba. Why waste time with England or Canada when you can have the best?

Under Obummer Care, if Dodd was from the great unwashed masses in fly-over country rather than the ruling elite, would he be covered and gets the treatment he needs? At his age, how many good years does he have left? And would his treatment be worth the cost to the rest of society? To some this may sound mean, I wish the Senator the best but under Obummer care this is the reality the average citizen will face.

He's an old man. Maybe he should start discussing his end-of-life decisions. He doesn't have to wait for Obamacare, he can do it to himself today.

Really, Whistler? what you wrote made absolutely no sense whatsoever. want to try again?
