Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell Coming To North Dakota Next Week

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will be in North Dakota next week attending a fundraiser for Republican candidates.

The Bismarck Area Republican Council today sent out an email revealing that McConnell was the “special guest” Senator John Hoeven would be bringing to annual R-100 Reception to be hosted at the home of state Rep. George Keiser.

The event is to be held on August 4th from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Senator McConnell is supposed to arrive at 5:45pm.

The fundraiser is apparently for Republican legislative candidates in the Bismarck area.

Not sure if McConnell will be attending any other events – including any specifically public events – while in the state.

I believe the last time McConnell was in the state was 2010 when he came here to fund raise for Hoeven during his 2010 campaign for the Senate.

Update:  Apparently not all Republicans are happy about McConnell’s visit. A Bismarck area legislators emails this:

McConnell is coming to ND for a fundraiser  for himself, hosted by Hoeven… We had our annual event date set in January… Bis GOPers were totally pissed Hoeven was doing this and agreed to have “Mitch” stop by for a visit.   Bismarck Republicans will not receive a dime from the Hoeven event, hosted at Hoeven’s house…

The invite I saw said McConnell would be stopping by Rep. Keiser’s home, but for what it’s worth.
