Scaremongering: Porn DVD Sales Have Declined, So Obviously We’re In A Recession

Sure.  Makes perfect sense.

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Recession is a dirty word especially in the porn industry. Sales of videos are down double digits for the first time in 40 years. Some believe that a decline in this once recession-proof business, could be an indication of a decline in overall consumer confidence.

So is porn going soft? According to Adult Video News, the industry’s leading trade publication, DVD sales fell 11-percent in 2006. This year, it’s closer to 30-percent.

Economics professor Robert Gustafson said that’s very unusual for this industry.

“We’re seeing this happen for the first time where you have the adult world actually in their own form of a recession,” said Gustafson

Recession?  Unlikely.  Here’s what’s really going on:

Competition from the internet has also cut into profits.

Consumers are hooked on pornographic knockoffs of You Tube, like Your Porn, the world’s number one porn site, which offers free uploads of adult entertainment videos.

Why buy a porno DVD when you can get free porn on the internet?  There’s no recession; the market is just turning away from a technology that’s fast becoming obsolete.

But hey, any excuse will work for the media to run that “recession” flag up the pole.

Comments

Wow, porn sales are dropping? What a shame! I will begin playing my violen.

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

...run that “recession” flag up the pole.

Up the pole? Sounds vaguely Freudian to me!

A troll is someone who only wants to stir up trouble, not have an honest debate.  Some signs that a poster is a troll:
* Dodges questions from other posters * Refuses to give sources
* When one of its arguments is shown to be false, either ignores the proof or moves the goalposts.  Heh. (From the LGF faq)

Apparently these guys are fuzzy on the definition of “recession.”

But to them, they merely report on what they are interested in.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Next you’ll be telling us that some of these pornographers’ businesses are “in the hole!”

10 yard penalty for using “pole” while discussing economic conditions in the porn flick industry.
