Say Anything Blogger Gets Published: Buy Dog Men Dream Of Magic Things Now

I’m proud to announce that one of Say Anything’s own, Pilgrim (known as Lee Dresselhaus in the real world) is now a published novelist.  His book, Dog Men Dream of Magic Things is available now at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Lee was kind enough to provide me with a copy of the book while it was in its editing stage, and I’ve got to say that it’s a really good read.  I enjoyed every page of it, and Whistler (who also got an advance copy) described it as a “page turner.” If I’d have to describe it, I’d call it the bastard literary off-spring of MASH, the Lords of Discipline and Cheech and Chong.

Why Lee didn’t ask me to write a blurb for the back cover I’ll never know.

Anyway, Lee and I were talking last night and I told him his book could possibly outsell Nancy Pelosi’s book.  At last glance, Rep. Pelosi had sold just 2,737 copies of her book since it was published and that was with a full on PR-blitz and book tour.  I think Lee could match that with a little help from the blogosphere.

So there’s all the incentive you need to buy, right?  It’s a good book from a guy you’ve come to know here on Say Anything, and if enough of you buy a copy we can also maybe humble Rep. Nancy Pelosi a bit too.

Congratulations to Pilgrim

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Mr Pilgrim Dresselhaus, (Yes, I had to scroll back up to catch that last name oddity again, hehe!)
I’m so excited and happy for you.
I can’t wait to read your book and pass on a few hundred or more recommendations.

It’s a good book.  Pil’s got a nice writing style.

Thanks to everyone!

It won’t be to eveyone’s taste, of course. But it’s a fun story, and it was fun to write.

I hope it doesn’t do brain damage when you read it.

PIl
writing a novel is a huge accomplishment and something that many people purport to be doing even though they never make with a product. congrats on finishing and having it pressed.

Pilgrim,

Nonsense!  After all the leftie blather we’ve endured here?  A good story by a keen and imaginative wordsmith will be a pleasure!

Since that should happen any minute, just be aware that some of us need time to make travel arrangements!

Given how far flung we all are I doubt that could happen.  Unless someone out there is rich and wanted to bankroll the flights.

At least in a couple days.

Sparkie,

Thanks. Actually I’ve got the first draft of a second one done. Now I’ve just got to motivate myself to do the rewriting (basically gutting it and redoing much of it - called “baby killing") and get that one between covers.

It’s a lot of work but a lot of fun, too.

I’ll never get rich doing it, but it’s a kick when you see your stuff out there. I’ve published a bunch of short stories and the kick of knowing that somewhere someone is reading or has read something you created is a hoot.

OK, Mom can bunk a couple of extra people, I can talk my brother CC into opening up some floor space(though his kids won’t let ya get no sleep) and a couple of the older, classier of y’all could probably stay at my Aunt’s house in Poplarville. Thats about all the accommodations I can round up.

Though, I do have a man in FEMA, could possibly get everyone a trailer of their own! An added excitement/adventure quotient right there.

On second thought

If this new hurricane hits us anything like Katrina did, there will be quite a mess to clean up afterward. Guess the meeting would have to be here. Accommodations would be 1st Class of course. If Gustav turns this way, we’ll be sure to air out the tents!

I can hear my Pilgrim now, as he weasles others to get the work done with a similar attitude to that of a certain character from his book....
