San Francisco Airport To Install Carbon Credit Kiosks For Easy Access Enviro-Penance

So that air travelers who subscribe to global warming hysteria can get in their penance with some “Hail Gaia’s” and “Our Father Al Gore’s” (and some cold hard cash) before jetting off.

San Francisco’s Airport Commission has authorized the program, which will involve a $163,000 investment from SFO, but is still working out the details with 3Degrees. Because of that, McDougal said, he can’t yet discuss specifics, such as the cost to purchase carbon offsets and what programs would benefit from travelers’ purchases.
But the general idea, officials said, is that a traveler would approach a kiosk resembling the self-service check-in stations used by airlines, then punch in his or her destination. The computer would calculate the carbon footprint and the cost of an investment to offset the damage. The traveler could then swipe a credit card to help save the planet. Travelers would receive a printed receipt listing the projects benefiting from their environmental largesse.

Is there any more elitist notion than the idea that it’s ok for the rich to pollute because they can afford to buy forgiveness for it?

Yeah global warming this is the stuff we are going to be feed under the NOBAMA administration they talk about cap and trade and warming as we freeze to death up north. Wait till the rolling black outs start hitting us.

If rich people want to spend their money on this, I think I would like to open a similar business and offer carbon credits at half the cost of Al Gore’s. Let’s watch to see how their business model works in real life.

I have one of those computers in my kitchen. Every time I cook up a pot of pinto beans and ham hocks, I eat them, then ram a sensor up my ass, and without any regret write Algore a check for excess carbon delivered to the atmosphere due to excessive personal methane emissions.

I used to work for a major computer manufacturer, based in the Silicon Valley during the late seventies and all of the eighties. Used to fly in and out of SFO about twice a month. The airport was always a zoo for freaks like this.

That’s a great idea mplsbob. What could be a better way to spread the wealth. Free enterprise.

    Thanks Tom.
I figure the tree huggers value proposition is to help “mother earth”. If they can do it for half the cost, they will do it. After a few months, other entrepreneurs will catch on by doing the same thing. The value for “eco-credits” will go down to near zero.

Hey, how else are we going to pay Algore his fair share. After all, he invented this hoax, as he did the internet.

I tried burning it off, in the confines of my bedroom, but I burned up 5 pairs of drawers and four sheets.

The whole Algore, Global-Warming, Carbon-offset thing is so impossibly humorous that it is not possible to overcome the idiocy associated with their beliefs.

Didn’t this type thinking go away after Martin Luther correctly read and interpreted The Bible at the threat of his life? I visited Worms and got a very informative tour from a German gentleman.

Not a bad idea. A carbon credit drive thru near the access ramp somewhere in San Francisco. Mc Gores – Want fries w/ that?
