Sales Of Karl Marx’s “Das Capital” Surge In Germany Due To Financial Difficulties

Sigh...

Sales of Kart Marx’s “Das Capital” have soared in Germany as a consequence of the financial crisis reported on Tuesday editor Jrn Schtrumpf from the newspaper “Neue Ruhr/Rhein Zeitung” (NRZ).

“Marx is back and is fashionable again”, said Schtrumpf, director of publishers Karl-Dietz form Berlin.

We are doomed to repeat the history we do not learn from.

Marx was wrong about everything.  Let the Euros go down that road again; if we stick to what’s proven to work(the free enterprise system), we will get even farther ahead of them.

I bought it for the lovely illustrations. wink

"There are different kinds of truths for different kinds of people. There are truths appropriate for children; truths that are appropriate for students; truths that are appropriate for educated adults; and truths that are appropriate for highly educated adults, and the notion that there should be one set of truths available to everyone is a modern democratic fallacy. It doesn’t work.”

I remember the first time I read it in the Sixties; my econ teacher had it as required reading, so we could compare it with our system, in all respects.
The first chapter, which lays out the “labor theory of value” almost put me to sleep a number of times, being so convoluted.
The next day after we were required to read that chapter, my econ teacher explained the free enterprise way of determining value:

Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them.

The light bulb in my head came on, and hasn’t gone out since.
It was then, in 1962, that I knew the Soviet system would fail.

Keep it simple stupid.

Thought you were a fan of Occam’s Razor; guess not, when it refutes Marxism.

Marxism and capitalism do not ‘get refuted’.

Marxism has been thoroughly refuted.  Too bad you don’t know that.

Anyone falling asleep while reading science in 1962 will probably have slept eversince.
Marx’s Capital still gives a sound analysis of capitalism and has nothing to do with the Soviet system, but everything with the crisis we’re in right now. So, lift your head, open your eyes, please pick up Capital ans start reading.
