Saddam Sounding Like A Democrat
At his trial in a fortified Baghdad court, the former Iraqi president seized on failings in that intelligence to once again steal the headlines from witnesses who described beatings and torture at the hands of his regime.
Saddam said the Bush administration lied to justify the war and was lying again when it denied his claim, made during Wednesday’s trial hearing, that he was tortured in U.S. custody.
“The White House are liars,” he told the seventh session of a tribunal trying him and seven others on charges of crimes against humanity. “They said Iraq had chemical weapons.”
Saddam said he had marks on his body to prove he had been tortured by the Americans, but did not display any to the court.
The White House has already dismissed Saddam’s torture claim as “preposterous” and was backed up on Thursday by Raed Jouhi, the Iraqi magistrate who brought the case against Saddam.
Bush lies and he tortures prisoners. Sounds like a DNC press release to me.
Saddam must have CNN.
By the way, that bit about Saddam “stealing the headlines” from torture victims is an interesting thing for a media outlet like Reuters to print. After all, who is it exactly that is letting Saddam steal the headlines?
