Rush Limbaugh Trying To Buy The Rams

I’ve often heard Rush joke that he doesn’t want to run for public office because he doesn’t want to take the pay cut. Given that he’s apparently in negotiations to buy a football team I guess it’s clear he hasn’t really been joking about that.

ST. LOUIS – The lowly Rams have someone who loves them. Conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh said Tuesday he is teaming up with St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts in a bid to buy the Rams, owners of the NFL’s longest losing streak at 14 and just 5-31 since 2007.
In a statement, Limbaugh declined to discuss details, citing a confidentiality agreement with Goldman Sachs, the investment firm hired by the family of former Rams owner Georgia Frontiere to review assets of her estate, including the NFL team.
Limbaugh also declined to discuss other partners that might be involved in the bid, but said he and Checketts would operate the team.
“Dave Checketts and I have made a bid to buy the Rams and we are continuing the process,” Limbaugh said.

Having grown up in Alaska, far from any professional franchise, I never really had a favorite football team. Mostly I’ve always just rooted against the Vikings so that I’d have something to fight with my North Dakota friends about. But if Rush buys the Rams I may have to start rooting for them.

If the pictures were working I’d put a smiley eating popcorn here….

  • sayanything-3960

I think calling an very successful black quarterback unsuccessful and a media creation speaks for itself.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

Rush knows football, and marketing and showmanship. It would be a great thing for St. Lousi and their fans. (Both of them!)

  • sayanything-3165

    Lyin says
“I never said Rush said anything. I said he thinks that.”

    And the lyin says
“I must have missed the part when Levi Johnson said this. You put false words in peoples mouths all the time.”

    http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/now_levi_johnston_does_it_with_protection/

I’m assuming you are talking about this:
“Hey look, I impregnated a famous person’s daughter and I’m famous for it!”

Did Rob say that Levi said that? Nope. I’m going to go with your theory, that’s what Levi was thinking….

  • sayanything-3960

“I do nothing of the sort, but even if I did it would hardly excuse you doing it.”

I must have missed the part when Levi Johnson said this. You put false words in peoples mouths all the time.

I never said Rush said anything. I said he thinks that. And I believe his treatment of McNabb shows that.

  • sayanything-3960

I’ll admit I extrapolate, but Rush saying that a very successful black QB is unsuccessful and a media creation leads me to believe he doesn’t believe black QBs can be successful.

Don’t tell me you don’t do the same thing with the quotes of liberals. You intentionally misquote liberals in your headlines all the time.

  • sayanything-3960

“You think he’s a racist not based on what Limbaugh has actually said but on what you’ve decided to believe he means.”

No based on what he has said many times:

“You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray. We miss you, James. Godspeed. ”

“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”

” I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.”

“Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.”

Are you going to defend these quotes now?

  • J.L.

Lioncourt- “I thinkRush is racist.” “Think”? Interesting standard of proof.

  • sayanything-3960

Gayle Sayers and Brian Picalo. Movie Brian’s Song.

I’m not old enough to have seen him play, but he looks good on highlights.

  • sayanything-3960

“You still accused Rush of not believing a black man can be a good quarterback based on nothing other than your own, biased view of him.” I admit I accused him of believing a black man can not be a good quarterback and I believe his quote about McNabb, a very successful black quarterback at that time and still, is evidence of that.

You will defend Rush of anything, mocking Parkisan’s patients, being a drug addict who criticizes drug addicts on the air, carrying water for the GOP.

If he buys the Rams he will probably be the next Dan Snyder.

  • robert108

TW: At the time Rush said that, their denial of the inconvenient truth got him censored.
AP is one of the best right now, but Bo Jackson is still my favorite. Of course, in the sports media, a black running black is “normal”, due to typical leftie racism. They have no trouble admitting the superiority of black running backs, but mention that white quarterbacks might be better, and you get censored.

  • sayanything-3960

Here is what he actually said:

“Sorry to say this, I don’t think he’s been that good from the get-go. I think what we’ve had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve. The defense carried this team.”

Donovan McNabb was one of the best quarterbacks in the league at the time. And he wasn’t the first black QB to do well. If you think quotes like this show that he knows football, good on you. I think it shows that he is a racist.

  • sayanything-43

Repeating lies makes you a liar Lyingcourt.

I think the 4th one down is your projection of what you think though.

  • sayanything-3960

Rush thinks he knows football, but the truth is than black men can be quarterbacks.

  • sayanything-7775

Rush plans to buy a football team and the discussion turns to racism. Who could have predicted that?

Or maybe it is just a business decision. Can a NFL team make him money?

  • sayanything-5371

“I think calling an very successful black quarterback unsuccessful and a media creation speaks for itself.”

Well there you go, lyingsort. You “think”. Get a clue, its not your strong suit.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

Sports reporters are absolute idiots in the first place.

Last night during the Vikings Packers game one of the announcers said that
Adrian Peterson was the best running back ever.

Please, 3 great years doesn’t make him the best ever.

    Idiots.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

And the rest of the ESPN guys were saying that McNabb wasn’t playing well
    that year as well.
    RACISTS one and all.

    cool

  • sayanything-3960

“So…how about you apologize for making ill-informed accusations of me to distract from the ill-informed accusations you made about Limbaugh?”

I don’t think they are ill informed. I think Rush is a racist. So, no.

  • sayanything-3960

‘Rush didn’t say he was “unsuccessful and a media creation”‘

He said he “wasn’t very good from the get go.” I think unsuccessful is a fair interpretation of this.
He also said “The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn’t deserve.” I think media creation is a fair interpretation of this also. I am the one who provided the exact quote of Rush. The other posts never claimed to be quotes or I would have put them in quotes.

  • sayanything-2

Weird, Mr Limbow is a Steeler Fan.

  • sayanything-795

Rush was right. McNabb was a good quarterback who was getting the elevated to the Valhalla of quarterbacks for no apparent reason.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

I’ll admit I extrapolate, but Rush saying that a very successful black QB is unsuccessful and a media creation leads me to believe he doesn’t believe black QBs can be successful.

So you admit that Rush said nothing like what you’re accusing him of and that your only basis for making the accusation is your own delusions about the man which are informed by your hatred of him and his politics.

Not quite a “hey, I screwed” but it’ll do.

Don’t tell me you don’t do the same thing with the quotes of liberals. You intentionally misquote liberals in your headlines all the time.

I do nothing of the sort, but even if I did it would hardly excuse you doing it.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

I think calling an very successful black quarterback unsuccessful and a media creation speaks for itself.

He was talking about McNabb’s situation, specifically, and not blacks in general.

This is what you accused Rush of:

Rush thinks he knows football, but the truth is than black men can be quarterbacks.

You should apologize, because Rush never once suggested that black men can’t be quarterbacks.

  • robert108

You do more than “extrapolate”, you deceive. Rush didn’t say he was “unsuccessful and a media creation”. He said he was overrated by a media that wanted him to succeed because of his race, and were therefore biased. I think the media insulted McNabb with its soft bigotry of low expectations.

  • robert108

Typical leftie playing the race card; Rush told the truth, and it’s inconvenient for you leftie race hustlers. McNabb was given favorable coverage by the sports media, and Rush exposed that truth, and for that, he was censored.
Of course, lefties like you don’t care for free speech when it exposes your flawed ideology.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

For people like Lioncourt it’s not what is actually true but what they want to be true.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

You still accused Rush of not believing a black man can be a good quarterback based on nothing other than your own, biased view of him.

And you’re still making excuses for yourself.

    How sad you are.

  • sayanything-277

Once again a lefty resorts to ‘they did it too’ defense when they are loosing the debate. Pathetic.

I think the very best football back was the Kansas back (damn, I can’t think of his name) who played for the Bears. Help me there. He and his running mate were featured in a movie.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Care to point out where Rush ever said that black men couldn’t be quarterbacks?

The comments from Limbaugh you’re referring to had to do with Donovan McNabb being overrated because he was a black quarterback and the liberal sportscasters wanted him to do well. And Rush was right. McNabb was overrated.

Kind of like how Obama was overrated because of his skin color.

Rush isn’t saying that black people can’t be perfectly good quarterbacks, and I’m not saying that black people couldn’t be good Presidents, just that liberals have a tendency to let their white liberal guilt override their judgment.

  • sayanything-277

Rush is from Cape Giradeux, home of some of my former mother-in-laws family.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

That’s right. Keep attacking me to obfuscate your own dishonesty.

  • sayanything-277

Yeh, Gayle Sayers in the guy I was trying to remember. I can remember a game he played against the Vikings. He tore them up, no one could catch him. One reason you don’t see him at the top is because his career was sharply shorten by injury. Here is a commeration from wiki: “Sayers is considered by many to have been the greatest open field runner in college football history.” and he carried that reputation into the NFL being particularly dangerous on kick and punt returns.

  • robert108

What Rush really said was that black quarterbacks get special treatment by the sports media. You’re spreading another lie, LC.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Best running back I’ve ever seen play live is Barry Sanders.

He’d have broken all the records if he’d stayed in the game.

  • robert108

That allows them to continue to ignore reality.

  • WOOFX

Reality, will the owners let bombastic boy into their club?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

It turned to racism because liberals think any criticism from conservatives is motivated by hatred ir bigotry.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Are you going to defend these quotes now?

So now you’re just going to copy/paste random, unsourced quotes from liberal talking points?

These have been around for a while. Google them. Countless threads debunking them. Here’s one column doing just that.

Maybe you should stop making stuff up now.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Yeah, but isn’t he also from Missouri?

  • sayanything-6955

    Capitalism at work, Bravo

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

I don’t think they are ill informed. I think Rush is a racist. So, no.

You think he’s a racist not based on what Limbaugh has actually said but on what you’ve decided to believe he means.

    That clears things up.

By the way, I notice you’re quickly glossing over the fact that you were wrong about my Limbaugh partisanship. Typical.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

    Lioncourt:

I admit I accused him of believing a black man can not be a good quarterback and I believe his quote about McNabb, a very successful black quarterback at that time and still, is evidence of that.

Evidence of it…just because you want it to be?

    Words mean things, kid.

You will defend Rush of anything, mocking Parkisan’s patients, being a drug addict who criticizes drug addicts on the air, carrying water for the GOP.

Actually, I was quite critical of Rush’s comments about Michael J. Fox. “It was a dumb thing to say” was my exact quote.

And, as someone who never shies away from criticizing Republicans when they deserve it, I applauded Rush when he refused to support McCain.

So…how about you apologize for making ill-informed accusations of me to distract from the ill-informed accusations you made about Limbaugh?

Or maybe you should just walk away and pretend like this thread never happened.

  • robert108

The stuff about Rush that you made up, out of your racial prejudice, doesn’t equate to what he said. His main thrust was that the media favored him because he was black. He was commenting about bias in the media, and you try to turn that into something else, so you can do what lefties do; play the race card.
Again, Rush was censored for telling an inconvenient truth.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

So what you’re saying is that you disagree with Rush’s analysis.

Well that’s fine. It doesn’t mean he’s racist or that he doesn’t think a black quarterback can be successful. Which is what you accused him of.
