Rush Limbaugh Listeners Are Smarter Than Average

Interesting...

rushissmart.jpg

What is particularly interesting is how the liberal New Yorker/Atlantic readers have generally higher levels of education than Rush Limbaugh listeners or Weekly Standard/National Review readers, yet score lower on the "High Knowledge" portion of the poll.

The knowledge percentage reflect the number of people in each audience who were able to answer three basic questions about politics. According to the study the questions were...

...which party has a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives (Republicans); the name of the current U.S. Secretary of State (Condoleezza Rice); the name of the current president of Russia (Vladimir Putin).

Frankly, I can't imagine anyone with a college education and an interest in politics getting any of those questions wrong.

Anyway, the next time some liberal hack is waxing poetic about how dumb conservatives are you may want to point them in the direction of this study.

Yep, listener since the early days.  I’m even more smarter than those netflix guys.

Speaking of the New Yorker; I was reading it the other day in the dentists office.  I was actually impressed by the magazine.  I didn’t find it nearly as biased as the CBS news.

That would explain why they can’t spell LISTENER in the headline ... right?

Doh.

That’s embarrassing.

Oh well.  Like you’ve never had a typo, Blogreader.

I wonder what the criteria was to consider yourself ‘high knowledge’?

I have high knowledge in useless 80’s television and music… does that count?

Dave, I explain the criteria for the knowledge percentage in the last part of the post.

Yeah, sorry about that… I’m practicing a new reading technique and I’m finding that I miss some stuff.  Overall though, I’m learning to read and retain faster.  Great for the web.

I’ve always found that left to right, top to bottom works the best.

Does anyone know where National Review readers would sit in this poll? Or are we too far right to register on the scale? Hell, I feel smarter just holding the magazine.....

So a ‘Larry King’ viewer is smarter than a Don Imus viewer ? That’s funny.

The real surprise here to me is that the “Daily Show” viewers rated anywhere near as high as they did.  Thought only morons watched that show.

Oh.  Oops.  I guess that makes me a moron.  Actually, I look forward to getting to the Colbert Report on my Tivo first over the Daily Show.  What does that say about the Daily Show?

I think it’s hard to take that “high knowledge” catagory very seriously when they ask only three questions… I guess my beef is using the term “high knowledge” intead of “political knowledge” or something similar…

Spaghetti, you’re probably right.  But how pathetic that even at the highest “High Knowledge” rating in this study only 50% of the people could answer all three questions?

I mean, who doesn’t know who the Sec. of State is?  Or who the President of Russia is?  Or who has the majority in the House?

The readers/listners or Rush and the Weekly Standard and such are people who you’d assumed would be at least basically politicall informed, but this study indicates that most people are clueless.
