Rumsfeld Out

Donald Rumsfeld has submitted his resignation as Secretary of Defense. It appears to me that this was in the works for a while as they’ve already got an agreement from Robert Gates, President of A & M to take his place. I doubt this just came up.
I’m surprised a man of Rumsfeld age kept that job for so long. The pressure must have been intense. I will miss his blunt press conferences.

I hope Mr. Rumsfeld enjoys his well deserved time off.

…it seemed to me as though him and Bush were getting along.

    Student,

Aren’t you the one who was so critical of the literary skills of one of your critics several hours ago?

The coming war with Islam is not going to be fought, much less won, with the sort of Cold War era massive forces so favored by the inertia-bound Pentagon. Rumsfeld’s initial mandate was nothing less than the complete re-design and realignment of the US military to bring our defense capabilities up to the needs of the 21st century. Then 9/11 happened. We will miss more than Don Rumsfeld’s brutally honest press conferences in the years to come.

Donald Rumsfeld has been a superlative Secretary of Defense.

I had my doubts when he was first named to the position, and have not agreed with all of his policies. He has been a superb war time Secretary, and will be sorely missed.

The only positive I can find in this is that he will not be subject to examination and abuse by the Democrats when they take over in January. I also hope that the lame duck session of the Senate confirms his replacement.

Bat One, let me correct myself since you failed to do it outright. “It seemed to me as though he and Bush were getting along.”

At least I spelled everything right. We all know that kids learn to read and spell before they learn grammar.

goodbye and good riddance. Arrogant, blind, grating, those are just a few of the immediate words that come to mind when thinking of Rumsfeld. History will no doubt be unkind to this man. http://www.minor-ripper.blogspot.com

That’s where I found the news today. I’m kind of surprised he is stepping down because it seemed to me as though him and Bush were getting along. I’m just wondering why the article says that Bush claims Rumsfeld is stepping down, and why exactly is he stepping down?

I see he’s also being replaced by a family friend. I hope this is a good choice, and I’m sure time will tell. It seems the replacement is only about 10 years younger than Rumsfeld.

So you are discouraging young people from being active in the political field, I see. How Dictatorial Communist of you. Ever heard of silencing the masses?

..looks like Sec. Rice position in this White House just rose by a very substantial amount..

    Student,

I did not “fail” to do it for you. Rather, I encouraged you to make your own correction. As you have done. Congratulations.

As for your remark about kids, spelling, and grammar, the adage that comes most quickly to mind is the time-tested admonition that children should be seen and not heard.

Donald Rumsfeld has been a superlative Secretary of Defense.

If by superlative you mean he sucked at it, the yes, he has been.
