Rudy’s Daughter Supporting Obama?

This isn’t exactly conclusive proof, but you just know the media’s going to have a hay-day with it:

There’s one vote that Rudy Giuliani definitely can’t count on in his 2008 presidential bid: his own daughter’s. According to the 17-year-old Caroline Giuliani’s Facebook profile, she’s supporting Barack Obama.

On her profile, she designates her political views as “liberal” and—until this morning—proclaimed her membership in the Facebook group “Barack Obama (One Million Strong for Barack).” According to her profile, she withdrew from the Obama group at 6 a.m. Monday, after Slate sent her an inquiry about it.

My big question is: So what if she is supporting Obama over her dad?  She’s entitled to her opinion just like the rest of America is.  She’s also a kid, and not even old enough to vote.  But regardless, kids and parents often have diverging political views.  My wife, for instance, is pretty conservative (my influence) and often butts heads with her Michael-Moore-Democrat parents.

Which isn’t a commentary on her parents so much as it’s just evidence of different opinions and different ways of seeing the world.

Comments

I don’t get it.

If she’s liberal, I see no reason why she can’t support her dad.

NARAL’s (abortion) political director Elizabeth Shipp acknowledged it “would help” the pro-choice movement if a Republican proved it was possible to win the presidency while still supporting abortion rights (ie… Rudy Giuliani) .

Funny thing is her dad is a liberal posing as a conservative.

This is a child being rebellious.  Finding a rebellious teenager is like shooting fish in a barrel.

She’s also a kid, and not even old enough to vote.

but if she’s 17 now, she’ll be at least 18 by the time the election rolls around.  but really, there’s no reason she should have to agree with her dad… i think at least half of the time i don’t agree politically with my parents.
