Ron Paul Lashes Out At Israel For Defending Itself Against Hamas

The thing about Ron Paul is that on 90% of domestic issues he’s right. Limited government. Lower taxes. Great stuff. (I’m not sure I’m with him on monetary policy, but nobody’s perfect).
But when Paul opens his mouth on foreign policy I usually cringe in advance of what’s about to come out. This seven-minute diatribe in which he repeatedly condemns Israel for defending itself against attacks from Hamas, while issuing absolutely no criticism of Hamas for attacking Israel first, is exactly why Ron Paul is and always will be on the political margins no matter how many disaffected college kids and old, lonely cranks wear his t-shirts and wave his signs.

By the way, remember when Ron Paul, during his primary campaign for the Republican nomination for President, took money from the Nazis who run Stormfront.org and even signed autographs for them? And posed for pictures?
The silly old kook still hasn’t given that money back.
Which is why I’ll never respect him.

Ed – Likwidshoe, my friend, Israel HAS consistently dispossessed Palestinians from their land since 1948.

I don’t buy that line and even if it were true, just look at what the “Palestinians” do with “their land”.

    Nothing constructive.

They’re cockroaches who need to be wiped out. They overwhelmingly voting in Hamas and spend their time hating the Jews and blaming them for every problem they face. Fuck ‘em. WHAT land? Israel should declare an offensive war and take the damn land. At least they put it to good use.

It doesn’t go without saying that a Muslim Arab has more freedom in Israel than in any other country in the Middle East. But Israel are the bad guys? Whatever.

Parting advice — turn off the TV.

Largely did that years ago. I probably watch an hour or two of TV a month now. Good advice, though…

If conservatives were serious about regaining the White White in the 2008 election, Ron Paul was their best candidate to make it happen. I supported Ron Paul until he dropped out of the running. He is a conservative in every sense of the the word.

  • 2Hotel9

Ed, YOUR United Nations “dispossessed” the “palestinians”, not Israel. You, and YOUR guilt over allowing the NAZIs and USSR to murder millions of jews are to blame for ALL THE WORLD’S CURRENT problems. You stupid fucking assholes did this. It is all YOUR FUCKING FAULT. FUCK YOU.

  • 2Hotel9

Proof, you beat me to it! We are still waiting for any of you Luap Nor cultists to show us anything, anything at all, luap Nor has done to fix any, any at al, of the things he endlessly screeches without end about. His entire political career has been an orgy of ramming tax dollars into his pockets while shaking his bony finger at everyone else and accusing them of stealing tax dollars.

So, enlighten us. Step up to the plate, be the first Pualette to take the Luap Nor Challenge. Prove he is the greatest human being to ever exist.

Oh, and when you get to Hell Thomas Jefferson is going to kick you in the head for comparing him to Luap Nor.

2H9, when you wrote “Luap Nor,” I initially thought that you were writing about someone from Cambodia. Figured you might appreciate the humor of my mistake. :^)

And we’ve got a guy here, Mr. “Anti-Israel,” who is seriously quoting David Duke as an authority on what’s going on in Israel? And who is apparently urging the re-opening of Auschwitz for business?

Yeah, there’s a great “moral authority” for you. If there is a single living brain cell in your head, Anti-Israel, please do consider that it wasn’t just Jews that Schicklgruber wanted to make into lampshades and fly ash.

Israel’s problems are predictably what happens when an apartheid regime steals a land from others, destroys their homes & livelihoods, & forces them into refugee camps & ghettoized “Gazas”.

Ahhh..so you must be describing the “Palestinians”.

Until recently, Hamas enforced a six month truce with Israel, but their expectation was that there would be more of a normalization to commerce. However, Israel had sealed this place up tighter than a drum, cutting electrical services, importation of food & medicine, etc.

Here’s an idea: (now bear with me because this is CRAZY!), how about, I don’t know, the freakin’ Palestinians create their own services and products?! Wild idea, I know!

    (sounds like Warsaw-1941, doesn’t it?)

No, it doesn’t. You’re really stretching the truth of the matter.

And that’s why most of us on the right don’t take you Ron Paul supporters too seriously. Don’t take this the wrong way, but you’re a bit looney.

  • Mickey

There is no moral equivalence between Israel, a democracy which seeks peace and targets the terrorists, and Hamas, an Iranian-backed terror organization that seeks Israel’s destruction and targets the innocent.

  • NoJelly

Gosh Anti-Is, I really feel for you…I mean, if it were MY sister who blew herself up while inserting her explosive tampons in the bathroom of that bus terminal, painting the walls with that kaleidoscope of brilliant (yet all-natural) colors and biological-yet-minced textures running to the floor into an unrecognizeable yet familiar puddle, all at MY insistance that she “do the right thing for Allah”, yeah, I’d be pissed off and looking for a scapegoat too…

    Fucktard.

I cannot appreciate the Youth Mob Banana Republic mentality which Ron Paul attracts; they’re often as creepy as the Left’s Banana Republic Youth Mob.

I imagine Ron Paul and the rEVOLution believe Limited government is the one they control absolute which is not that much different than the Left’s approach to government.

Seriously Paulites, I do appreciate your love of America however Ron Paul cannot walk on water anymore than Barack Obama.

EXACTLY. ‘pubs are scared s*&^^%$s of cons like him. Hed actually make government smaller the day he takes office. scary stuff for everyone getting paid.

i think his only weakness (and yes its big) was/ is he is an isolationist. im not quite that far into it, but we are WAY too involved in many things. funny thing is, John mac was a straight up liberal with many, many failings and at least 51% of pubs didnt seem to mind putting him up as ‘the guy’ to lead the future.

  • BeingJohnGalt

I see many here stating how Ron Paul is looney, not conservative and some even say an isolationist. As his political philosophy is nearly identical to that of Thomas Jefferson, what does this say about Jefferson in your minds?

Also, can any of you rationally discuss the IDEAS with which you find fault, or do you merely attack the man, poisoning the well of debate? Shouting ‘LOON’ is not an argument. Back it up.

People incapable of arguing ideas simply call names. RP’s position is that borrowing $$$ from China to keep on funding foreign aid & hundreds of military bases around the world is not sustainable. It will end with our national bankruptcy, & incidentally – with a lot of hunger in these parts. Israel’s problems are predictably what happens when an apartheid regime steals a land from others, destroys their homes & livelihoods, & forces them into refugee camps & ghettoized “Gazas”. Until recently, Hamas enforced a six month truce with Israel, but their expectation was that there would be more of a normalization to commerce. However, Israel had sealed this place up tighter than a drum, cutting electrical services, importation of food & medicine, etc. (sounds like Warsaw-1941, doesn’t it?) I really don’t care a lot what Israel & Palestinians do, but I really object to spending MY tax dollars to fund the killing of women & children by F16s.

  • http://www.bikebubba.blogspot.com/ Bike Bubba

After thousands of rocket attacks, exactly how does Israel’s response to years of provocation qualify as “pre-emptive” war? It would be interesting, and a lot of fun, to pin down Rep. Paul (or any number of diplomats for that matter) to get an answer to that one.

Doesn’t the dictionary matter anymore? And for reference, Paul is pretty much paleoconservative/libertarian, not that liberals (who ironically pretty much share his views on this) will bother to learn the difference.

you can’t just dismiss all of Gaza as a terrorist organization it’s simple minded and wrong.

Actually, I can. Not 100% or the residents, of course, but an overwhelming majority as evidenced by their voting Hamas into power. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. I have a deep and abiding empathy for the Gaza innocent, but not enough to let cutthroats intentionally target the innocent on the other side.

    Kenny,

ronpaul is a LIBertarian (mere capital L status doesn’t do justice to the level of irrationality). Most conservatives (to include neo-cons) have strong libertarian (note the small l) leanings.

  • M

***Lets point out that there is a difference between defending this country and policing the world down the barrel of a gun. Ron Paul is for non-intervention that’s what he was saying. Both sides are at fault not just Gaza as the media would say. you can’t just dismiss all of Gaza as a terrorist organization it’s simple minded and wrong.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

BJG: There’s a Google search bar above where you can search the myriad discussions we’ve had on Ron Paul at this site and dissected his isolationist views and associations with less than desirable (or sane) individuals. We appreciate his stands on liberty and freedom, but his cockeyed foreign policy and inability to stand up to the truthers and the neo-Nazis was disheartening.

As his political philosophy is nearly identical to that of Thomas Jefferson

I’ve read Thomas Jefferson. I knew Thomas Jefferson. Ron Paul is no Thomas Jefferson! I guess it’s that nearly identical I have trouble with!

Start with Jefferson’s actions towards the Barbary pirates. It is 180 degrees out from Ron Paul’s isolationist stance.

For the rest of it? Ron Paul is simply not relevant enough to bother rehashing old news. Maybe if he sold blimp rides?

  • djkrell

AND an isolationist. Believe me if you tried lobbing a few missiles into Ron’s Backyard, maybe killed one of his family members, he’d be screaming for revenge.

Likwidshoe, my friend, Israel HAS consistently dispossessed Palestinians from their land since 1948. Look at the maps. ( http://www.palestineremembered.com/Maps/index.html ) It continues today with ever-increasing “settlements” in the occupied West Bank. The current conflict with Gaza has more to do with Israeli domestic politics than security. Each politician, whether of the Kadima, Likud, or Labor parties, seeks to prove his credentials as “toughest” prior to Israel’s elections next month.
As to being conservative, I campaigned for Goldwater (a Jew) and Reagan. I had hoped the later would prove to be a traditional conservative (not), but I still identify with the paleo-conservative wing of that party and with the foreign policy view of the likes of such as “Mr. Republican”, Sen. Robert Taft. http://www.independent.org/publications/tir/article.asp?a=37
But I’m afraid it matters not. The Sole Superpower paradigm that exists today is not only coming unglued before our eyes, but shortly will likely crash precipitously. (Anyone hear the rustling of Chinese dollars about to be repatriated?) I’ve lived most of my life, & it’s been a good one, but I feel sorry for your generation & that of my kids. I am afraid you & yours will be left picking up many broken pieces.
Parting advice — turn off the TV. forget the MSM, surf extensively, read other viewpoints, question others motives, strive (as I am trying) to rid yourself of negatives like anger, fear, condescension. I wish you well.

  • robert108

…do so with some dignity and some knowledge.

Israel is surrounded by anti-semites like DINO. The only difference is that DINO is all mouth and harmless. But we all admire DINO for continually displaying his true colors. It’s always helpful when enemies are so willing to show themselves.

If conservatives were serious about regaining the White White in the 2008 election, Ron Paul was their best candidate to make it happen.

Says the guy who also said he supports Al Franken…before it was pointed out to him that Franken and Paul are on opposite ends of the spectrum.

I do think that Republicans need to embrace a lot of Ron Paul’s fiscal stances, but overall Paul is not the right guy to lead the conservative movement.

And did I mention that he took money from Nazis? Or does the fact that Ron Paul doesn’t have a problem hob-knobbing with white supremacists not matter to any of his disciples?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Both sides are at fault not just Gaza as the media would say.

The media is saying Gaza is at fault? What media have you been watching?

The renewed conflict wasn’t even reported on until Israel finally responded to Hamas’ rocket attacks.

Ron Paul is for non-intervention that’s what he was saying.

Ron Paul is a modern-day, Charles Lindberg-style isolationist who is as wrong now as Lindberg was back then.

  • Flamejob5

lol. Nice smear job. Thankfully, at least one of us actually watched the video.

A mere two minutes and forty seconds (seven minute “diatribe”?) spent speaking specifically about the Israel/Hamas conflict, in which not only does he suggest the US taking a neutral (again, NOT isolationism) stance in the foreign, overseas conflict, but even justifies (2:14) perhaps rightful criticism towards Iran for possibly “egging-on” Hamas which may have sparked the Israeli invasion. (making it of course…   a defensive maneuver)

Lost once again upon the perpetually insecure, imperialist mind of the neo-conservative is the remaining four minutes of the vid this “kook” spent using the US taxpayer-subsidized, foreign interventionist, conflict as yet just another example (of  thousands) in order to drill home his overall, fiscally-conservative point regarding wasteful government military spending which has contributed greatly to our national debt (& ultimately our future standard of living) – underscoring the wise fore-warnings many of our framers held regarding the unintended consequences of harboring entangling alliances with foreign nations.

Such as with the law of economics, the principle of nation neutrality is just as valid today as it was over 200 yrs. ago, regardless of today’s advanced technology. Matter of fact, if anything, today’s technology magnifies the importance of adhering to that principle.

Ron Paul has condemned every action by Israel and even lied about them and got called on it on public TV by Don Imus.   Paul supported the attack on Iraq’s reactor 25 years ago…and has condemned their every move since.  He is a nightmare for America and Israel.

  • J Neil Schulman

Nowhere in this video does Ron Paul condemn Israel’s right of self defense, which he supported when he broke with Congressional Republicans in 1981 in refusing to condemn Israel’s bombing of the Osirak nuclear reactor in Iraq. Ron Paul condemns concentration camps for Palestinian Arabs (run, in fact, by the United Nations); he accurately comments that the Palestinians are far-less armed than the Israelis thus there is (he did not use this term)
asymmetrical warfare between Palestinian Arabs and Israelis; and his main point is that the United States should butt out of an old and ongoing nationalistic conflict, which is consistent with his opposition to U.S. intervention in all other ongoing nationalistic conflicts around the world.
