Romney Is A Nannystater

Mitt Romney is vowing to go after retailers who sell violent video games.

I want to restore values so children are protected from a societal cesspool of filth, pornography, violence, sex, and perversion. I’ve proposed that we enforce our obscenity laws again and that we get serious against those retailers that sell adult video games that are filled with violence and that we go after those retailers.

Compare Romney’s stance to big-government liberals like Richardson and Obama.  Both want better rating systems to inform parents as to the content of video games.  That’s a common sense approach.  But Mitt Romney doesn’t want that.  He wants to “go after” the people who sell the games.

Which is utter nonsense.

For one thing, video games aren’t just for kids any more.  There are a lot of adults (myself included) who play video games, and adults should be able to purchase violent video games if they want without interference from do-gooder busybodies like Mitt Romney.

For another, what ever happened to personal responsibility?  If a violent video game ends up in the hands of a kid, is it the retailer’s fault or the parents’ fault?  After all, at $300 for a video game console and about $50 per video game, for the most part it ain’t kids who are buying these games.  It’s parents, and if parents buy their own kids violent video games that their fault, not the retailers.

Ratings systems?  Sure.  Education to help parents understand these games and the rating systems?  Sure.  But going after people just for selling these games?

That’s the hallmark of a nanny state candidate who conservatives concerned with individual freedom and responsibility shouldn’t be supporting.

Good thing the kids won’t be downloading the violent games off of the internet.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

This goes right along with TX trying to charge the topless joints a fee to offset the cost of sex crimes.
It’s all udder nonsense ... I tell ya!

Ok, the witnesses are finally coming forward. Time for you to apologize to Romney:

http://www.politico.com/news/sto.../1207/ 7524.html

Shirley Basore, 72, says she was sitting in the hairdresser’s chair in wealthy Grosse Pointe, Mich., back in 1963 when a rumpus started and she discovered that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and her governor, George Romney, were marching for civil rights — right past the window.

With the cape still around her neck, Basore went outside and joined the parade.

“They were hand in hand,” recalled Basore, a former high-school English teacher. “They led the march. We all swung our hands, and they held their hands up above everybody else’s.”

She remembered the late governor as “extremely handsome.”

Until this week, that was just a vivid memory for a sweet retiree who now lives in Pompano Beach, Fla.

But Basore’s memory became important this week when news accounts questioned the recollections of the late Michigan governor’s son, Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts governor.

News stories suggested that Romney was exaggerating. It turns out that he may not have attended the Grosse Pointe march, but it certainly happened.

The campaign posted citations quoting one author as writing that “George Romney made a surprise appearance in his shirt sleeves and joined the parade leaders.”

Stephen Hess and David S. Broder also wrote about the march in their 1967 book, “The Republican Establishment: The Present and Future of the G.O.P.”

Basore said she was very angry about how the issue has been covered on cable television.

“This very arrogant guy on TV questioned Mitt Romney, and I marched with them,” Basore said. “I hope that the campaign demands an apology. I want him to publicly apologize to me. That was a personal insult, and an insult to Mitt Romney.”

Basore said she called the campaign, and the campaign supplied her contact information.

Another witness, Ashby Richardson, 64, of Massachusetts gave the campaign a similar account.

“I’m just appalled that the news picks this stuff up and say it didn’t happen,” Richardson, now a data-collection consultant, said by phone. “The press is being disingenuous in terms of reporting what actually happened. I remember it vividly. I was only 15 or 20 feet from where both of them were.”

Time for you to apologize to Romney:

Bill: It’s time for you to apologize to everybody !
Maybe you could post this in the thread about Romney marching, not the post about Romney being a nannystater!
I know they’re both about Romney, but the subjects are different. (Can you say: ”different “?)
If you had someone read them to you, you’d know they weren’t the same!
Or are you just trying to hijack the thread because you know Romney can’t stand up to criticism? Maybe the “press” isn’t the only one being disingenuous?

Proof,

You are an idiot.

But you are consistent.  When you can’t address the message, you attack the messenger.

Sure you aren’t a closet liberal?  That’s their MO.

Bottom line - you called Romney a liar for saying his dad marched with King.  Now it seems it is YOU that is the liar.

Proof,

For Gods’ sake man.  For once in your pitiful existence answer the f***ing question!

I have never seen anyone dodge and weave and never answer the question like you (well maybe Huckabee, he is close, except he is funny, you are just profane).

The issue is that you called Romney a liar about the King thing.  Now that I have PROOF that he was telling the truth, all you can do is bitch that I haven’t posted in the correct thread.

Lord man you are a pathetic mess.

For Gods’ (sic) sake man. (I take it you’re not a polytheist!) For once in your pitiful existence answer the f***ing question!

See! Wrong thread again! The f***ing question is over on the thread about orgasms! smile

I think the “pitiful existence” is the moron who doesn’t read the thread before he comments on them.
Or reads them and cannot comprehend that he is not on topic. Or has so little regard for other people on the blog that he doesn’t give a flying f*ck about what they think, because he is damn well going to post whatever he wants wherever he wants. And until THAT moron shows a little common courtesy, I am going to dog his sorry ass until he shills for his candidate in appropriate places. Until then, whine away little bitch!

Bill: FYI there are two different threads on the Romneys and MLK. Here’s your big showbiz break: Just tell the good people here at Say Anything why you decided to post information on the discussion in those two threads here in a thread on Romney banning video games?

(Other than that you are just too f’ing stupid, lazy or rude(or some combination of the three) to find the correct thread on which to post!)

Proof,

You are hopeless.  Again, you blather on for another 500 words and don’t address the challenge.

What’s funny is that you call yourself “Proof” yet you NEVER offer any proof of your positions.  You are the ultimate oxy-MORON.

You are like an angry child.

And in this thread we find the perfect example of how we do the work of the liberal left for them. Who of us would rather see Obama, Hillary or Edwards in the White House over Romney? Or Guiliani? Or Huckabee? Or Thompson? None of us!! But, by God, we will waste bandwidth and effort to trash our own candidates in public again and again. Do you not get it? This is not a private blog. It is read by lots and lots of people. So, be careful what you wish for....

"Here lies, in honored glory, an American soldier, known but to God.”

“Glory is not a conceit. It is not a decoration for valor. Glory belongs to the act of being constant to something greater than yourself, to a cause, to your principles, to the people on whom you rely, and who rely on you in return.”

Bill: Sounds like your autobiography! Why did you post about the Romneys and MLK in a thread about Romney banning video games? You’re the Romney expert! Is this move of his indefensible? (Much like your position on the Second Amendment!)
Why don’t you answer the question, Bill?
Are you:
A) f’ing stupid
B) F’ing lazy
C) F’ing Rude
D) F’ing incompetent (as a Romneybot) or
E) All of the above
See? You don’t even need to blather on for another 500 words, one letter will tell us what your problem is!
(Personally, I vote ”E”!)

Maybe Santa will bring you some alphabet blocks for Christmas? You can start practicing putting things in the right order ! smile
