Roe vs. Wade Made It Illegal To Make Abortion Illegal 34 Years Ago Today

Today is the 34th anniversary of Roe vs Wade, the Supreme Court ruling which made it unconstitutional for states to ban the practice of abortion.

Since that ruling there have been approximately 46 million abortions in this country. That’s a huge number. So huge, in fact, that many people probably don’t comprehend it. Josef Stalin once said that one death is a tragedy, but a million deaths is a statistic. How cynical, but true.  Bearing that in mind, let’s break that big number down a bit.

In the year 2000 alone there were about 3,600 abortions per day. That’s 151 abortions per hour, or about one every 24 seconds.

Maybe those numbers will bring the enormity of the larger number home to you. 46 million aborted children. That’s a little over 15% of our population today.

No wonder liberalism is in decline.

I went to the rally at our Capitol steps today.  There will be another, inside tomorrow.  One point made is that this issue is a moral one.  The Jews were faced with the same problems under Roman rule.  The Romans were completely immoral also.

I love to see democracy in our Capital.  It was great to see young people out protesting today on the Capitol steps.  While I do not agree with the protesters it is indeed wonderful to see democracy in action.

Since when does “democracy” equal rallies or protests? Democracy is nothing more than majority rule. The majority can take away the right of assembly and it would still be a democracy.

I love to see democracy in action with students on the steps of the Capitol.
democracy in action
democracy in action
democracy in action
democracy in action
democracy in action
democracy in action
I love the smell of democracy in action in the morning.  Live with it.

Are you okay Puzzlefeet? You seem both puzzled and angry with what I have stated. Acting like a belligerent college student who believes that “democracy in action” is marching down some street did have me laughing, so thanks on that front.

I think you inflate your importance in my life. I’ll “live with it” because I don’t really care about the silly things that you believe. Your thoughts are pretty much irrelevant with this topic. Not to mention your immature behavior.

“Live with it” indeed. Who cares?

But you just can’t help yourself in responding though can ya? My thoughts are so irrelevant that you take the time to answer.  Try not being so arrogant. I know you care, you just can’t stand the fact that I am having a great time at your expense.

Woo-Woo.  have a great night!

Yeah, well, what can I say? I sometimes spend too much time conversing with fools on this blog.

Try not being so arrogant. I know you care, you just can’t stand the fact that I am having a great time at your expense.

A charge of arrogance from a liberal who wants to micromanage my life? That’s hilarious! And you “know” that I care, which was said just after you called me arrogant! Too funny.

What, exactly, are you doing at my expense? What expense?

Woo-Woo.

This is what the Crips shout out in your Democrat “Great Society” inner cities. It’s a call out to the Bloods.

It’s not clear that all abortions lead to a decrease in population. If a woman has decided she is only going to have two kids, all an abortion will do is change the time in which she has them. I think abortion has led to a decrease in the population, but not a very significant one.

This is a very, very, small minded look at the numbers. Read the science, abortion has had very little actual effects on population size. Look at the numbers of births that were aborted because they were going to endanger the mother’s life (lowering the popualtion...). And that is just one of many examples available to you. One of the more relevant aspects of this topic, like whatever said, is the situation in which someone has an abortion. You’ll find that a vast majority of women having abortions do this because it is too early in their lives. And although it seems as though that would be minus one child, the same woman ends up having her two children at the right time instead with no net loss in children.

I applaud you for standing up for what you believe in. But it is extremely important, if you in fact want yourself heard, to portray things accurately.

Also, you might want to check your numbers on liberalism and conservatism. Liberalism has been on the rise for some time now… A good indicator of this is to look at the number of college degrees from 4 year institutions. Funny how that works.
