It’s not rocket science, but your attribution of the source of the very real sea level rise is completely wrong. Mörner may be a schmuck but you are equally one for a) getting the science wrong in the process of your haughty toned rebuttal, and b) an ad hominem attack. That’s just bullshit and you should know better: Either criticize his claims relating to sea level rise, or just STFU.

The main culprit for the rising sea levels in the last century? Thermal expansion. If you sum all other sources, including reglaciation in the interior of Greenland and the Antartica, you get a nearly zero or even slightly negative change in sea level. This goes for projections to 2100 as well btw.

The “greatest lie ever told” is not that sea levels are rising (they are and have been for the last 14000 years of so, excluding intermediate cooling periods, such as 1400-1800 AD), but that we are in immediate danger of global flooding from the melting ice caps. We are possibly looking at a 5-m sea level rise in the next 1000 years, and the only reason we didn’t have a 5-m sea level rise in the last millennium was because of reglaciation from the Little Ice Age.

The issue people in the world should be aware of is the tremendous heat wave that is killing a lot of people in the Pacific. The implication caused by Global warming.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) rely too heavily on computer-generated climate models that predict imminent world devastation as icecaps melt, oceans rise and storms and plagues sweep the earth. In exchange, this junk science distracts public attention from more serious and more immediate dangers to the planet. These climate-studies people who work with models always tend to overestimate their models. Climate models take into account atmospheric motion and water levels but have no measurement for the chemistry and biology of sky, soil and trees. The biologists have essentially been pushed aside for hysteria mongering and profit by greedy politicians.

And he’s been trying to sell his 20 page booklet at $15 dollars for several years now. Anyone read it? Bet it’s compelling reading – guffaw!

Nils-Axel Mörner maintains that the only way to predict future sea level rises is to use observational data from past sea level rises. He does not factor in glacial melt and uses very small and patchy sample groups, so that he can claim no patterns exist in modern times. It is a shame that someone with so much experience in scientific research and academia can write (and publish) such a pile of utter tripe. If he had presented a rigorous case, with sound evidence, then he would not find himself in the situation he is in.

There is a wealth of data out there that contradicts the work of Morner, both derived from observational data and from computer models and nothing that I could find that supports it, perhaps you’ll have more luck and present it to me. I’d love to see it. I really would.

Which implies that previous ocean rises never had any melting ice which is utter nonsense as we know from the geological evidence very well that the repeated glacial-interglacials which have been going on probably since enough of Pangea’s continental mass broke and drifted far enough towards one pole and the oceans became aligned correctly to allow such repetition.

The fact of the matter is that the evidence shows we’ve had repeated melts even warmer than this over the last half million years alone and that was more than twenty-five hundred times the span we’ve had any sort of industry to speak of on Earth, more than twice as long as the species has existed.

What you cannot refute is that there is clear evidence that previous periods of Earth have been much much warmer than now with levels of no higher than they are now and in some cases lower, nor the hard science of thermodynamics setting the effectiveness as a greenhouse gas of every gas on the periodic table and the fact that CO2 is a weak greenhouse gas. Nor that it constitutes a fraction of a percent of our atmosphere nor that what man emits is actually a small fraction of that.

I seriously wish you’d try without dredging up utterly discredited studies which were done by non-professionals of the area of discipline in which the studies were done, and which show serious selective methodology, and ignore geological and geochemical evidence to say nothing of basic logic and clear history.

Problem is, you can’t. Heck, global warming people are still utterly willfully oblivious of continental upthrust due to removal of the glacial masses from the last ice age, the action of water to remove CO2 from Earth’s atmosphere, amount of CO2 put out by the biosphere naturally at the low end of the food chain in decomposition…
