From the press release:
Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is endorsing Rick Berg for U.S. Senate in North Dakota.
“Rick Berg has a proven record of defending the Second Amendment,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF. “Because of his strong support of our rights, Rick Berg has earned an “A” rating and endorsement from the NRA-PVF.”“I am honored to accept the endorsement of the National Rifle Association,” said Berg. “As a hunter and long-time member of the National Rifle Association, North Dakota’s outdoor tradition and legacy are incredibly important to me and my family. I will continue to be a trusted advocate and defender of our Second Amendment freedoms so that future generations of lawful sportsmen and women will have the same opportunities that my son Jack and I enjoy today.”

It’s interesting that the NRA is giving Berg their endorsement this time around. In the 2010 cycle the NRA left a lot of gun rights supporters in North Dakota scratching their heads when they endorsed incumbent Democrat Rep. Earl Pomeroy over Berg despite Pomeroy’s lengthy history of support for invasive federal gun control. Berg, in that race, was clearly the better choice when it comes to protecting gun rights.
And he’s the better choice over Heidi Heitkamp on that issue as well.
