Reservation Banning Story Makes Fox News

Well done, Rob.
This story deserves to get out there.
I think so too.

ROFL They banned a blogger… WOW, this is next to unbelievable. So much for freedom of speech, Everyone else gets their fair share of critisism.
You better watch out Rob! Nancy Pelosi & Hillary might ban you from the US… ![]()
How long before Hannity or Rush start calling?
This is the kind of honkin’ big spotlight that needs directed upon the poverty and living conditions in the Reservation System. Want to bet you get bashed by some one for this “travesty”?

2H9 has to run to work, but he asked me to follow up on this. Can someone write up a short recap of the situation, include some links and send it to me (or 2H9)? I can then send it to Glenn Beck through an insider email address (where they do seem to actually look at the letters)and maybe get some exposure there.
Wow, a link directly from Fox News to SAB and traffic still seems to be running smoothly here.
No cheesy dream weaver trinkets for you!
Rob, you are #1 at googlenews. Sorry. I put this at another thread. Now confusion will reign.

Nothing sells in the media like notoriety and the banning has had that affect.
One of the most important talents for success in politics is the ability to make utter nonsense sound not only plausible but inspiring. Barack Obama has that talent. We will be lucky if we escape the catastrophes into which other countries have been led by leaders with that same charismatic talent.

Golly I hope these guys don’t keep it up and get Rob a spot on the Hannity and Conehead show.

Guys, I wonder if Rob will still talk to us after he becomes a famous star.

In keeping silent about evil, in burying it deep within us, so that it appears nowhere on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousandfold in the future.

What Rob has done, and continues to do, is to write material that appeals to the least common denominator within our society. He claims that he did not write harmful things, but that the readers of his blog responded with these sentiments instead - thus in his mind he is innocent and deserves no repercussions. His writings serve to support racist views among his readership. It substantiates the preconceived and prejudicial feelings dormant in so many people. Rather than look at all segments of the reservation, he chose to look at the most unfortunate and downtrodden because these people represent his idea of why Indian people are a flawed community. Mr. Port needs to accept responsibility for his vitriolic writings and the climate that he created on his blog. I know he can’t stop the racist element that enjoys his blog and his writings, but he can show some journalistic integrity and not add fuel to their intolerance.
Celebrating the fact that a neocon news organization has “picked up” the story will only draw wider appeal and further the cause of hate and intolerance.
I feel bad for American thanks to Mr. Port and this story that was caused by an ill conceived and unnecessary piece of yellow journalism.
Kade, can you point me in the direction of racist comments on this site? I’ve read some mean, rude and downright nasty comments, but nothing so far I’d consider racist (though I will admit that I don’t read all of the 750+ comments that get posted here in an average day).
If you can’t cite any examples, will you withdraw your accusations of racism? Somehow I doubt it…because you aren’t intellectually honest enough for that.
What I wrote was the truth, and you’ll never be able to deny that.
The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

The racist comments are everywhere Rob, and you know it. Quit playing the innocent victim. It doesn’t suit you. And, the 750+ comments you currently enjoy? As soon as us Indians are through with you, you’ll be back down to 19 or so a day. Circle jerks will be in fashion again.

Kade, you know what? The only good thing coming from Rob’s article is it opens our eyes to the bigotry and hatred that’s out there for tribal peoples. It paints a clear picture for us. Bigots abound. They’re everywhere. Indian haters love Rob Port. They’re coming out of the woodwork. Now is our chance to show the world what Indian peoples are faced with. Hatred everywhere, even in North Dakota!

Pathetic and also untrue. You all sure enjoy playing the victim card, and as long as you do, you will continue to be mired in the past. LOL

So you’ll be happy to link to a couple of them. The permalinks for comments are the time under the comment itself. I wait with bated breath for you to be able to actually substantiate your smears.
And, the 750+ comments you currently enjoy? As soon as us Indians are through with you, you’ll be back down to 19 or so a day.
Actually, 750+ comments/day is about this blog’s norm. Going from when I first started writing here, 3.5 years ago, the average is about 143/day. That numbers a little skewed because for about the first year and a half it was pretty much just me talking to the void. Commenting has been increasing exponentially since then.
Like it or not, Andy, this blog is widely read. It’s syndicated on ND news sites across the state as well as to news outfits like Reuters, USA Today and the Houston Chronicle. I’m also routinely linked from mainstream political news websites from Slate and Salon to The National Review and The Weekly Standard.
Not to toot my own horn, Andy, but the little tea pot tempest you whipped up with your silly banishment has been all but inconsequential to me. It garnered a little more media attention than I expected, but ultimately it’s meaningless.
But I’m sure you’ve deluded yourself otherwise.
The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.

Andi,
Actually, that’s not exactly true. If you’ll stop hyperventilating for a moment, you might notice the ads posted on the site’s pages. “Pajamas Media” is the prominent one at the upper left, for example.
Now, just like other forms of advertisement, billboards, TV and radio slots, newspapers, and the like, the advertisers pay the site owner, and just like those other media, the amount paid is based on traffic generated. If you had a website of your won, for example, with an average of 4 or 5 visitors a day, the advertisers wouldn’t be very interested in placing ads on your site, whereas if you were getting 20,000 or 30,000 hits per day, they would likely be very interested indeed. But with all the traffic being generated here at Say Anything lately, its almost as if all of your tediously repetitive, self-pitying comments have the effect of putting money in Rob’s bank account.
So you see, there most certainly IS something good to come out of all this. Yes, indeed!
“Capitalism is optimism monetized.”
Andy L. Andy - Are you reading my comments… I am curious what your thoughts are on them…. Thanks
On the other blog…
Gullit, I’ll check them out. Thanks.

Bat, like I care. When this is all over, the teletubbies will be back to circle jerks and ony 19 hits a day.
Made the Houston Chronicle too!! Wow, that’s interesting! Isn’t that the place where that jerk Michael Berry is from? Druggie Limbaugh? That his city too?
Wow, we’re going to hit 3 million unique hits soon, probably tomorrow. (The little number at the bottom of the page)

Those of us who have followed Rob’s blog know that the Turtle Mountain Reservation isn’t the only thing that he writes about. I encourage everyone to look through the last few years worth of articles and postings.
This blog site publicizes items that need attention from the people of ND. Many people, including natives from the reservation know that what Rob wrote about is true. He didn’t sugar coat it. He stated FACTS, Such as Unemployment rates.
Because you didn’t like what he wrote, you call him names and kicked him off the tribe. His story alone did NOT made NATIONAL News. The tribe unjustly banning Rob from the tribe for journalism is what made national news.
Do you see anyone else making national news because some tribe banned them? The point being, Robs article might have been a bit harsh, but banning him in this way:
1. Gives him credibility
2. Portrays admittance of guilt in regards to all the things Rob wrote about
3. Further exemplifies the corruption of tribal government.
4. It also points a spotlight on these problems, and gives people a bad impression of the Turtle Mountain Reservation.

They will probably ban all of us soon just because we read this blog. I think what the issue that made it so news worthy was that they banned a person from a reservation because of a point of view, he didn’t break any laws, did sell drugs or cause a violent crime.
I would think the Tribe could have used this as an opportunity to invite him to Turtle Mountain and have a dialog with him.

That would be to civil and besides, one of the reasons they banned him was “for his own protection”
If there are that many hostile people willing to harm him over an editorial, we might as well throw him in jail. “for his own protection” not that he broke the law or anything.
19 hits a day. That’s rich, Andy.
Since moving to this particular blog platform (Expression Engine) back in September of last year we’ve had 7,148,020 page views.
That’s directly from the server logs. Seven million, Andy.
And just the other day one of the posts here got picked up by Reuters, and that post as read loaded by 750,000 readers in a week.
I never really talk about the stats for this blog, but for you to try and belittle it is just plain laughable. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
If you were capable of refuting my articles I’d say that you should start a reader blog and provide a counter-point to my commentary on my own blog.
But you won’t do that, because all you have is name calling. Oh, and silly banishments that accomplish nothing.
The purpose of government shouldn’t be to do good, but simply to refrain from doing evil.
And all this time, Andy thought he was making a complete fool of himself in front of only a small handful of people.

Sneer if you want, Kade, but not just any joker can start a blog and get it read.
I’m normally a very humble guy about this sort of stuff, but if you’re going to mock me I’m going to point out that I have a large audience for a reason. It’s because people do actually want to read what I write.

The type of people who enjoy and want to read your writings are not very discerning people I would say.
You think much to highly of yourself. You seem to think you are some kind of Rush Limbaugh of the information superhighway.
No, I’m the Rob Port of the information superhighway. Never claimed to be anything more than that.
But keep sneering. I don’t care. I’ll keep writing, and my readers will keep reading.
