Republicans Want To Debate Cheney Impeachment, Democrats Don’t

Is there anything funnier than watching the Democrats scramble to table something their far-left base wants to desperately they can taste it?  Dennis “The Truth Is Out There” Kucinich attempted to push through a resolution to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney.  The Democrats though they’d quietly vote to table the nutty thing and be done with it, but Republicans nearly got it passed.  The vote ended up being 218 - 194.

But the funny thing is, why don’t the Democrats even want to debate something their base talks about all the time?

I guess the Democrats are just fine with taking money from Daily Kos/Code Pink/MoveOn.org types, but aren’t fine with being seen advancing the real agenda of those groups in public.

Update: Here’s the report from Fox News:

Quality entertainment.  I can’t get enough.  The quote from the end from Alcee Hastings about Kucinich seeing flying saucers is just priceless.

No wonder these jokers are near single-digit approval ratings.

This is simply an ironic replay of last year’s kerfuffle when congressional Republicans forced a debate on Jack Murtha’s amendment to remove combat troops from Iraq, and nearly everyone, Democrats included, voted against it.

It almost makes one wonder why even a Democrat would vote for Democrat candidates, when they have absolutely no principles, and apparently no stomach to stand up for what they say they believe in.

Why, if it wasn’t for abortion and raising taxes…

How do we know what the motivation of the Republican voters was? I bet more than a few of them saw it convenient… public snubb to Cheney (which it is, through and through) and a chance to have it conincide with a plausible counterfactual.

Dennis the Menace is trying to do the same thing to the country that he did to Cleveland!

The democrat leadership doesn’t want to debate the issue becuase they know they don’t have the votes for it.  But rest assured they would go ahead with everything they got if they believed they could, after all a dem is third in line to be president.

As for their reluctance, Polotical power means more to them then what they had to say to get it.
