Reporter Asks White House: Is Making Fun Of Mitt Romney’s Dog Story Part Of That Important Policy Debate You Talk About?

After Tapper asks the question Carney goes into a long-winded spin job about how the media ought not focus on one teeny, tiny little joke made by the President, but Tapper comes right back and points out that the President and his handlers surely can’t be so naive as to think that they could throw a bomb like that and not have it become the message.
Frankly, if I were the President, I’d want to talk about the dog on the roof too rather than wind energy subsidies which are an enormous, wasteful boondoggle.
