Not against Hezbollah.
That’s just great.
The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.
Frédéric Bastiat, The Law
Rob’s recently listened-to songs:
There is another, perhaps even more troubling aspect to Congressman Dingell’s thoughtful ambivalence toward the terrorist murderers of Hezbollah.
Dingell, who has been in Congress for 50 years, must be assumed to have been influenced in his public stand by the fact that his District (Michigan’s 15th) has a substantial Arabic/Muslim population. A Democrat, Dingell reflects (tenuously) the viewpoint of his constituents, as opposed to actually leading by taking a stand for what is clearly right and against what is clearly wrong.
That Dingell feels compelled to do this, his own lack of principles aside, tells us that anti-semitism is indeed rife within the Muslim community. Israel’s ongoing war for survival and our own global war against Islamist terror do not pit both democracies against a small minority of Islamic radicals as some delusional liberals would have us believe, but against Islam itself.
It is estimated that at least one quarter of the world’s population is of the Muslim faith. If so, and if their first and fiercest loyalty is to the tenets of that faith, then both the US and Israel are in for a very long, and very bloody war indeed. The voices saying otherwise are nearly all Western… not Muslim. And John Dingell’s is not among them.
Usual Dishonest Wingnut Lie.
“Here’s what Dingell actually said:
Q: You’re not against Hezbollah?
DINGELL: No, I happen to be — I happen to be against violence, I think the United States has to bring resolution to this matter. Now, I condemn Hezbollah as does everybody else, for the violence.”
Usual Dishonest Wingnut Lie.
Don’t be a dishonest dipshit WOOF. How about going back to what Dingell said right before?
DINGELL: Well, we don’t, first of all, I don’t take sides for or against Hezbollah or for or against Israel.
What does that mean? He just explicitely stated that he’s not against Hezbollah and you sit there and say that it is a lie? Are you serious?
Woof: Your quote from Dingell: “Now, I condemn Hezbollah as does everybody else, for the violence.”
But not for attacking Israel, or for trying to destroy Israel. Convicted by his own words. Everyone condemns violence; that is not a political stance on foreign policy. Very weak, when a strong, definitive response was called for.
Powerline just took advantage of a foolish old man that should not be in a position of power.
I will conceed that Powerline was less than honest in this matter.
To get the full scope of johnnie dingell’s point you must place it in context. Look at his stance and statements on this issue from the last 25 years. Then you will understand his thinking. That and the"Allah U Akbar” tattoo on his ass make it clear whose property he is.
