Rep. Earl Pomeroy’s Office Tells Constituent That They Will Only Notify Media About Events
Got this in an email from a reader:
I called Pomeroy’s office in Bismarck (701) 224- 0355 and his Washington office and they have nothing scheduled and they won’t notify individuals by e-mail or mail. They only will send notices to the mass media.
Very guarded and wanted to know if I had any special reason to want to know when the meetings might be.
Aren’t events put on by our politicians supposed to be about them interacting with the public? Shouldn’t this be something they want to get out not just to the media types but to everyone? Shouldn’t they have a place on their websites where constituents can go and find out where their elected representation is going to be so that they can show up and, you know, interact?
What an insult to constituents to be told that only the media will be aware of “public” events.
I know this is a rough time for Democrats, coming home to angry crowds of constituents, but that’s how democracy works. They don’t get to hide from the people who elected them.
