Rep. Earl Pomeroy Trying Desperately To Distance Himself From Obama
He voted for a health care bill that’s opposed, as indicated by multiple polls, by 2/3′s of North Dakotans. He didn’t bother to even hold a single face-to-face town hall about that health care bill with his constituents over the summer. He also sponsored a bill to make a death tax opposed by 80% of his constituents permanent.
Internal polling shows he’s losing to an unnamed candidate 50 – 42. And now, with Senator Byron Dorgan heading for the stables, he suddenly finds himself the lone incumbent on the ballot in a year that’s shaping up to be an ugly one for Democrat.
So what’s Earl Pomeroy to do now? Throw Obama under the bus, of course:

Pomeroy would like us to believe that he often disagrees with President Obama, much like his constituency. But let’s face it, Pomeroy supported Obama for the Presidency. Pomeroy voted for the health care bill, complete with the “public option,” that Obama wanted. On most issues these days, Pomeroy seems to find himself on Obama’s side more often than on the side of his constituents.
I’m sure Rep. Pomeroy wants us to believe that he hasn’t essentially been toeing the line drawn in the sand by Obama, Pelosi, etc. all year, but what Pomeroy wants us to believe and what is actually true are two different things. Tags: Asshats, Domestic Issues, North Dakota News, Politics
