Remember When Obama Promised Not To Sign Bills Without Posting Them Online?
Earlier today I posted about Nancy Pelosi refusing to post the finalized House version of the health care bill online before forcing a vote on it. That’s depressing news given that these Democrats campaigned on bringing transparency and ethics to Congress.
If they’re really in favor of transparency, why can’t they post the bill online so that the millions of Americans who are concerned about what is in this bill can read it and contact their representation with input? Is that not how our representative government is supposed to work?
Also, remember that during the campaign Obama promised that the “public will have 5 days to look at every bill” that goes to him for signature:
Obviously, Obama has already broken that promise over and over again. He also promised to have the health care bill negotiated on CSPAN so that Americans could watch and follow along. A promise that has also been broken.
But Obama did make those promises. And Democrats in general did promise transparency, accountability and ethics upon coming into office. So why should any of them allow a vote on a bill that hasn’t been exposed to the public for review and comment first?
Unless, of course, they never really meant what they said about those things anyway.
