Relax America, You Can Eat Tangerines Again

John Edwards isn’t going to tax them out of your grocery store, even if that’s what his wife implied the other day.
The funny thing is that while Edwards is weasling out of this by claiming that he isn’t going to levy taxes on food (not a very “I’m for the poor working stiff” policy), and yet raising the price of food and other goods is exactly what his “carbon footprint” regulations would do. They’d make the price of anything that, in the process of being created and/or transported, produces carbon go up. Way up, in fact.
And where would all that money go? Straight to the government, naturally. Because that’s what this global warming stuff is all about. Just an excuse for big-government liberals like John Edwards to stick their hands in your pockets, grow government and exercise more control over your lives.
