Public Service Announcement: Calling Obama “Uppity” Is Racist

Just in case you didn’t know.

(CNN) - Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland was unaware a word he used to describe Barack and Michelle Obama on Thursday carries racial overtones, a spokesman for the congressman told CNN.

Westmoreland, who represents Georgia’s third district, described the Obamas as “uppity” when asked by reporters in Washington to compare Repubican vice presidential canidate Sarah Palin with the wife of the Democratic presidential candidate.

“Just from what little I’ve seen of her and Mr. Obama, Sen. Obama, they’re a member of an elitist-class individual that thinks that they’re uppity,” Westmoreland said, according to the Capitol Hill Newspaper the Hill.

Westmoreland’s spokesman, Brian Robinson, insisted the congressman did not know the word has been used with a racially derogatory intent against African-Americans.

I didn’t know either, and would point out that in order for someone to be racist they should actually have to intend to be racist.  Attempting to call someone racist by intentionally misconstruing a word they use is just plain stupid.

Maybe the Obama campaign should just issue us some sort of a guide to what terms are and are not acceptable for use when criticizing The One.

How about “historic” as in his “historic” nomination?
It’s not “historic” to have a Dem man running for President, so what could that mean?  Racism?

When I used the word uppity, Proof said I was playing the race card.  So Proof knows the history of the word.

There is no way Westmoreland grew up in Georgia and doesn’t know the term “uppity nigger”.

He knew what he was saying.

1.  affecting an attitude of inflated self-esteem; haughty; snobbish.
2.  rebelliously self-assertive; not inclined to be tractable or deferential.

Where are the “racial overtones”?

As for me i’m going to use the word “ niggardly” at every oportunity this campaign season. No longer will cheap, miserly, tightfisted, stingy, ungenerous, grudging, mean, parsimonious, tight, suffice in my correspondence. I’ll do this, primarily, for two reasons. The first reason is simply for laughs,as we all know a large portion of our more dense citizens will go into wild, uncontrolled, convulsions upon reading the word. The other reason is to cause left leaning, are there any other, writers to chastise those using the word and , in so doing attack an adult instead of, for instance,a vulnerable seventeen year old pregnant girl. What say you, are you with me?

Ironic. It is the democrat history that is rich in bigoted, racist history. From the KKK to the Jim Crow era it was all about democrats and their ugly racist beliefs.

When democrats talk of Republicans trying to turn Obama into ‘the other,’ it is this type of bluster from the left that truly threatens Obama with that status. Why shouldn’t he be required to walk through the same flames as every other presidential candidate? Deliberating citizens will ask themselves. Why am I a racist if I have some questions about this freshman senator?

To be unable to criticize or question Obama’s candidacy or policies out of fear of rhetorical retribution is something that will almost certainly brand him as The Other. And it is not racism to note there are wide swaths of this nation comfortable enough in their own skin to not simply be bullied into voting for a candidate because a gaggle of reporters and liberal bloggers are saying “…or else.”

Obama supporters expect Hillary Clinton to be satisfied with her accomplishments without branding Democrats as sexists, so Democrats can do the rest of us the favor of not branding us racists if their candidate loses.

And YET Barry says, “NO HILLARY, NO WAY, NO HOW”

News flash:

Racism, lynchings, disenfranchisement, Black Codes, and racial segregation laws are primarily from the democrat party. It was democrats who opposed the 14th and 15th Amendments overriding the Dred Scott decision to provide both legal and voting rights for black Americans.

It was democrats who opposed the Civil Rights Acts of 1866 and 1875, legislation that was actually enacted but effectively eviscerated by Democrats until re-enacted in 1964 and 1965 — a hundred years later.

It was the Democrats who had spent 165 years from the party founding in 1800 to about 1965 benefiting politically, socially and financially from support for both slavery and segregation, establishing Jim Crow laws and refusing to support anti-lynching legislation.

Playing the race card is at the very core of the democrats and the way they address any number of issues. In every and all instances the bottom line for democrats is always the same: race, race and race again. How to make it pay off financially, how to gain from it politically, how to scare with it or how to ruin someone’s career with it.

Can Obama lose? Yes he can.

Anna’s point is a good one.  With Barack Obama the official nominee of the Democrat party, it is about time those who oppose his candidacy decided NOT to allow his supporters to determine what is and what is not racist.

Obviously, those on the Left will scream “racism” every time they are confronted with a challenge that they are intellectually unable to address.  That is their history, and that is about all they have left (pun intended) with which to defend him.

Its about time conservatives decided to overlook every bleating cry of racism by the left.  If Hillary had won the nomination, all we’d be hearing every time we disagree would be virulent accusations of “sexism!” So what!?

Out of 2300+ gop delegates, how many were black?

36.

Racial quota politics.  Of course, since it takes courage for a black person to become a known conservative(look what you lefties tried to do to Clarence Thomas and Condi Rice), and the constant race hustling by the Dems, there is less representation for blacks in the Republican Party, even though they are very welcome to join in supporting American values and principles, rather than the barely concealed Marxism of the Dems.  It’s their choice; the Republican Party excludes no one who loves America.
As usual, you practice Goebbels’ tenth principle of propaganda.

Isn’t it the obama campaign that deliberately places white people in the background, behind obama, in view of the camera so that it looks like he has more white support?

Lol, the dems are racist clowns ashamed of their alleged diversity.

that is from the hungryblues.net site:

I suppose this might seem hyperbolic to some. It is a factual, historically accurate statement.

When I interviewed the children of Samuel O’Quinn, an African American man who was shot dead by a sniper at the gate to his property in Centreville, MS in 1959, they said that the main problem their father had with whites was that he was well educated and successful.

Samuel O’Quinn was a graduate of the Tuskegee Institute—”the highest form of education you could get” at that time, if you were Black, Rance O’Quinn emphasized.

“My mother and father gave away a fortune,” Rance O’Quinn continued. “They gave money to every cause, the building of every church. They bought the bus for the kids to go to school and paid the bus driver to take children to school.”

“That’s why he was hated,” added Phalba O’Quinn Plummer. “They said he was biggity. They would say ‘uppity’ and ‘biggity.’ ‘Biggity’ means too big for his britches.”

Five years after Samuel O’Quinn was murdered, in April 1964, his eldest son, Clarence, was attacked on the Centreville Post Office steps by Chief of Police Bill Ivey. “You damn uppity nigger, you think you own the town,” Ivey said, as he beat O’Quinn with other whites looking on.

Just for the record: the “SAMBO” charge up above comes from two racist liars. These liars belong to the political party of Democrats, they who do use the slur.

What’s up is down in Democrat land. The Obama supporters call this racial lying “Hope” and “Change”.
